NOTE
If
the drive
belt
removed
is
double-grooved
it
will
be
necessary
to
upgrade
your
centrifuge
with
the
Belt
and
Pulley Replacement Kit,
PN
07728. The
double
grooved
drive
belt
is
obsolete
and
no longer
available.
To
replace
the
motor
drive
belt:
1.
Use
a piece
of
flexible
wire
approximately
38
cm
(15
Inches)
long
to
form
a
"snake"
to
pull
the
drive
belt into
position.
2.
Hook
one
end
of
the
wire
securely
around
the drive
belt.
3.
Insert
the
"snake"
beneath
the
drive
plate
and
push
it
through to
the
opening
In the
bottom
of the
rotor
chamber
(see
figure
5-12).
4.
Pull the
wire through
the
opening
until the belt is
visible. Secure
the belt
temporarily
by
hooking
the
end of
the
"snake"
over
the
Up
of the rotor
chamber.
5.
Engage
the
other
end of
the
belt in the
groove
of the
motor
pulley.
Be
sure
the belt
is
seated correctly
in the
pulley.
6.
Maintain tension
on
the
drive
belt
to
keep
the drive
belt
seated in
the
motor
pulley
and
grasp
the
other
end of the
belt.
Remove
the
wire
"snake"
from
the
belt.
7.
Position
the
drive
belt
on
the
gyro
pulley.
8.
Line
up
the
gyro
housing
with
the imbalance detector and
secure
the
gyro
with
the
three
mounting
screws.
9.
Check
that
the
drive
belt
has not
become
twisted
during
Installation
by
turning
the
gyro
shaft
clockwise.
The
motor
should
rotate clockwise. Reach under
the
sides of
the
mounting plate
to
check
that the belt
Is In
the
groove
of
the
gyro
and
motor
pulleys.
10.
Attach drive belt
tension
spring
to motor mounting
plate (see figure
5-7)
and
set
the
tension
by
adjusting
the nut
on
the
retaining
hook
(see
paragraph
5-29).
11. Tighten
the
nuts on
the
three
mounting
studs
securing
the
motor.
12.
Replace
the
Imbalance detector bracket
to
the
gyro
housing,
and
replace
the
foam
insulating
ring
and
gyro
seal
(boot).
13.
Replace
the
access
panel (paragraph
5-33).
