Adjustment of the detection zone/reach
The shrouds supplied can be
used for deliberate adjustment
of the detection zone. Using
these, it is possible for exam-
ple to cleanly separate individ-
ual workplace areas in an
open-plan office so that only
movements in the area of the
respective desk group are de-
tected. We recommend acti-
vating test mode for rapid and
precise adjustment of the de-
tection zone (see page 16).

Vertical separation =
reduction of the angle of coverage
Horizontal separation =
reduction of the reach
The shrouds are divided into 8 areas (horizon-
tally). The reach is reduced depending on the
shrouds applied (number of areas).
0 (without cov.) = 12 m = 12 m
1 = 6.5 m = 10 m
2 = 5 m = 9 m
3 = 3.5 m = 8 m
4 = 3 m = 6 m
5 = 2.3 m = 4.5 m
6 = 1.5 m = 3 m
7 = 1 m = 2.2 m
8 < 0.5 m < 1 m

IR remote control
For the sensor BLS DF the op-
tion also exists of adjusting
the desired light level by
means of an infrared remote
control. The last selected set-
ting is respectively maintained
in this case. By constantly
pressing the (–)-button, the
lighting also be switched OFF
completely using the remote
control. By subsequent press-
ing the (+) button, the desired
level of brightness can be
readjusted.
Reset function
By simultaneously pressing
both buttons (+) and (–), all the
modifications made using the
remote control are reset to the
brightness setting adjusted on
the sensor.
Important note:
During adjustment of the
brightness setting, it should
be noted that the measured
brightness values of the sen-
sor refer to the installation site
of the sensor under the ceiling
and may therefore not neces-
sarily correspond to the
desired brightness at the
workplace.
Guideline values for adjusting the lux and time value
The following guideline values may be taken as a basis:
Brightness setting:
Passageways (not working areas): 200 lux
Working areas (offices, training rooms, workshops etc.): 500 lux
Working areas requiring good light:
(technical drawing, laboratories, precise work) 700 – 1000 lux
Switch-off delay:
The switch-off delay can be continuously adjusted according to the use of the respective rooms:
Mainly standing activities (e. g. photocopier room, passageways etc.): 4 min.
Mainly seated activities (desk work by 3–4 individuals): 7 min.
Mainly seated activities (desk work by 1–2 individuals): 10 min.
Seated activities with little movement (reading, EDP, etc.): > 10 min.
If the lighting immediately switches ON again in response to movement in spite of occupancy,
the switch-off delay is to be increased.
