The air filter system can be adapted to
suit different operating conditions by
simply installing a choice of filters.
Standard wire mesh filter (1) (green) for
normal operating conditions and winter
operation.
HD filter (2) (black) for dry and very
dusty work areas.
Note:
STIHL standard and HD filters have a
long wear life when used in a
dry condition. Therefore, always use
and keep STIHL filters dry.

Undo the knob above the rear
handle in direction of arrow and
remove the carburetor box cover.
•

Pull off the filter.
When there is a noticeable loss of
engine power
•

Knock the filter out on the palm of
your hand or blow it out with com-
pressed air from the inside outward.
In case of stubborn dirt or sticky filter
fabric:

Wash the filter in a fresh,
non-flammable solution (e.g. warm
soapy water) and then dry.
•

•
Do not impregnate standard wire
mesh filter with oil.
Always replace a damaged filter
element.

Refit the filter.
