If the LED flashes red: there is no elec‐
tric contact between the battery and the
charger. Remove and reinsert the bat‐
tery.
or
The battery has a malfunction and
must be replaced. Check the LEDs on
the battery. Do not use or charge a bat‐
tery if its LEDs indicate a malfunction.
or
The charger has a malfunction. Have it
checked by an authorized STIHL serv‐
icing dealer before use.

CHARGER
9.1 Mounting the Power Supply
Cord (only AL 501)

Connect the charger side plug (1) with the
socket (2).
10 TRANSPORTING
10.1 Charger
To properly transport the charger:
Disconnect the charger from the electrical out‐
let.
Remove the battery from the charger.
Wrap the power supply cord and attach it to
the charger.
When transporting the charger in a vehicle,
ensure that it is secured in a manner that pre‐
vents turnover, impact and damage.
11 STORING
11.1 Charger
To properly store the charger:
Disconnect the charger from the electrical out‐
let.

Wrap the power supply cord and attach it to
the charger.
Store the charger indoors in a dry and secure
location.
Keep it out of the reach of children and other
unauthorized persons.
Never hang the charger by its power supply
cord or cord bracket (1).
12 INSPECTION AND MAIN‐
TENANCE
12.1 Charger
WARNING
To reduce the risk of personal injury from short
circuit and fire, do not attempt to repair, open
or disassemble the charger. There are no
user-serviceable parts inside. Always unplug
the charger before cleaning.
To properly care for your charger:
Keep the charger housing and electrical con‐
tacts free from foreign matter.
Clean the charger as necessary with a dry
cloth or soft, dry brush.
If the power supply cord is damaged and plu‐
gable, replace it.
If the power supply cord is damaged and
unplugable, have it replaced by an authorized
STIHL servicing dealer.
Have worn, missing or damaged safety labels
replaced by an authorized STIHL servicing
dealer.
If you make a warranty claim for a component
that has not been serviced or maintained prop‐
erly, coverage may be denied.
