Maintenance interval:
Every 25 operating hours
Maintenance operations:
● Check the mowing blade wear limits.
● Sharpen the mowing blades if
necessary.
If mowing results deteriorate, the
mowing blades should be sharpened.
Checking the mowing blade wear
limits:
● Carefully clean the mowing deck and
mowing blades. (Ö 14.2)
● Remove the mowing deck. (Ö 13.1)
Placing the mowing deck in a safe
position for checks:
Lean the mowing deck (1) against a wall
and secure against slipping with the foot.
Checking the wear limits:
A = Blade thickness (> 4,5 mm)
B = Blade width (> 49 mm)
Check the blade thickness A and blade
width B at several points using a slide
calliper. If the specified wear limits are
reached or exceeded, the mowing
blade (1) must be replaced.
Removing the mowing blade:
● Remove the mowing deck. (Ö 13.1)
● Lean the mowing deck against a wall
and secure against slipping.
Loosen and remove the blade fastening
screw (1) using an A/F 17 spanner (not
included in standard equipment).
Remove the blade fastening screw (1)
together with retaining washer (2).
Remove the mowing blade (3).
● Repeat this procedure on the second
mowing blade.
Sharpening the mowing blades:
● Cool the mowing blades when
sharpening, e.g. with water. The blades
must not be allowed to display blue
colouring, as this would reduce their
cutting quality.
● Sharpen blades evenly to prevent
vibration due to imbalance.
● Observe a cutting angle of 30°.
Risk of injury!
A worn mowing blade may break off
and cause serious injuries. The
instructions for blade maintenance
must therefore always be observed.
Mowing blades are subject to
differing degrees of wear
depending on the location and
duration of use. If you use the
machine on sandy ground or use it
frequently under dry conditions, the
mowing blade will be subjected to
greater loads and will wear more
quickly than normal.
Caution!
Always replace the blade
fastening screw and the retaining
washer when replacing the mowing
blade.
STIHL recommends removing the
mowing deck if the wear limits need
to be checked.
If a suitable lifting platform is
available, the mowing blade wear
limits can also be checked with the
mowing deck installed.
Risk of injury!
Always wear safety glasses and
gloves when sharpening.
