17.2 Standard Setting
► Shut off the engine.
► Turn the high speed screw (H) counterclockwise as far as
stop.
► Turn the low speed screw (L) clockwise as far as stop.
► Turn the low speed screw (L) 3/4 of a turn
counterclockwise.
17.3 Adjusting Idle Speed
► Carry out the standard setting.
► Connect water pump to a water source.
► Fill water pump with water.
► Start the engine.
► Warm up the engine by opening and closing the throttle for
about 1 minute.
Engine stops while idling
► Turn the idle speed screw (LA) clockwise until the water
pump begins to pump water.
► Turn the idle speed screw (LA) one full turn
counterclockwise.
Erratic idling behavior or poor acceleration
► Turn the low speed screw (L) clockwise or
counterclockwise until the engine runs and accelerates
smoothly.
Water pump continues to pump water at idle speed
► Turn the idle speed screw (LA) counterclockwise until no
more water is pumped.
► Turn the idle speed screw (LA) one full turn
counterclockwise.
