NORMALOPERATION
WHENTHESWITCHinthemainACsupplylinetothexenonpowersupplyisin
theONposition,andthe30A.circuitbreakerontheswitchingpowersupplyisON,thegreenVIN
lightonthexenonpowersupplywillglow.Thelamphouseblowerwillstart.
OPERATIONOFTHELAMPHOUSEBLOWERwillclosetheairow interlock
switch,andassumingthelamphousetopcoveriscorrectlyinstalledandsecured,thecontrolcircuit
totheLAMPswitchwillbecompleted.
WHENTHE“LAMP”SWITCHisplacedintheONposition,theACcontrolcircuit
inthelamphousewillenergizethepowersupplycircuitryprovidingDCcurrenttotheigniterand
bulb.ThegreenGOpowersupplyindicatorlightwillglow,andhigh“noload”(opencircuit)DC
voltagewillbeappliedtotheDCpulseigniter.
THEREWILLBEadistinctlyaudiblehighvoltagearcpingattheigniterarcgapand
acrossthebulbelectrodes.Thebulbshouldigniteimmediatelyafteroneortwoofthesehighvoltage
pulses,andthelampcurrentwilladjusttotheoutputsettingofthexenonpowersupply.Multiple
ignitionpulsespriortobulbignitionnormallyindicatealowDCoutputsetting.Seexenonpower
supplymanual.A“warm”oragedxenonbulbmightalsorequiremultiplestrikes.
TROUBLESHOOTING
IFTHEXENONBULBdoesnotignite,observethefollowingoperationalsequences
forassistanceinlocatingandisolatingthetroublearea.
WHENTHEFANSandthegreenindicatorlightsonthepowersupplyareon,theAC
circuitinthepowersupplyistrouble-freeuptotheterminalblockinthepowersupply.
ATTHISTIME,the lamphouseblower shouldoperate. Ifthisdoes notoccur,the
troubleislocatedintheblowermotor,alooseJ2connection,orabroken#2or#4lead(MSconnec-
torpins“C”and“E”).CAUTION:TopreventbulbignitionwhencheckingtheACcontrolcircuit
inthelamphouse,temporarilyunplugJ1(two-pinplug)fromthelamphouseprintedcircuitboard.
Checkatthistimefor115V.ACControlVoltageattheinterlockswitches(wiresJ2-10&J2-5)and
theblowerterminals(J2-8&J2-9).Temporarilydismountingthelightshieldplate(Figure2,Item
20)permitsaccesstoterminaltestpoints.ReplaceDCplugJ1beforeproceeding.
THEVANEontheairowswitchshouldraise.WiththeLAMPswitchinthe“ON”
position,therunningtimemetershouldstartandindicateelapsedtime.Ifthismeterdoesnotoperate,
checkforcontinuitythroughtheLAMPswitch.
