Function Description:

The Sub-Zero Designer Series Undercounter Refrigeration units are designed to provide flexible and compact refrigeration solutions for various settings beyond the main kitchen, such as master suites, bars, home offices, media rooms, or outdoor kitchens. These units can serve different purposes depending on the model chosen:

  • All-Refrigerator: Provides dedicated refrigeration space.
  • Combination with Ice Maker: Offers both refrigeration and ice production.
  • Beverage Center: Optimized for storing beverages.
  • Wine Unit: Specifically designed for wine storage, often featuring wine racks.
  • Outdoor Refrigerator: Built to withstand outdoor environmental conditions.

The units are designed for integration with custom cabinetry or stainless steel panels, allowing them to blend seamlessly with existing decor.

Opening Dimensions (refer to page 5 for diagrams):

  • Depth: The depth of each model is 23 1/8" (587). Allow for panel thickness when planning the finished opening depth.
  • Finished Return: A minimum 3 1/2" (89) finished return is required on all sides of the opening.
  • Framed Cabinets: Require additional finished filler material behind the face frame for proper installation.
  • 24" Model (Standard Height):
    • Opening Width (W): 24" (610)
    • Opening Height (H): 34 1/2" (876)
  • 24" Model (ADA Height):
    • Opening Width (W): 24" (610)
    • Opening Height (H): 32 1/2" (826)
  • 15" Model (Standard Height):
    • Opening Width (W): 15" (381)

Dual Installation Opening Widths (if two units are installed side by side, a dual installation kit may be required):

  • Two 15" Models: 30" (762)
  • 15" and 24" Models: 39" (991)
  • Two 24" Models: 48" (1219)
  • Dual installations without a custom filler strip require a dual installation kit. If not specified, a 2" (51) filler strip is recommended between units. Dual installations without a filler strip can only be accomplished using two units with opposite hinges.

Electrical Requirements (refer to page 6 for diagrams):

  • Electrical Supply: 115 VAC, 60 Hz
  • Service: 15 amp dedicated circuit
  • Receptacle: 3-prong grounding-type
  • Location: The electrical supply must be located within the shaded area shown in the illustration, with the grounding prong to the right of the thinner blades.
  • Important Note (Indoor Models): A ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) is not recommended as it may cause interruption of operation.
  • Important Note (Outdoor Models): A GFCI is required to reduce the risk of electrical shock.
  • Caution: The outlet must be checked by a qualified electrician for correct wiring and polarity.
  • Warning: Do not use an extension cord, two-prong adapter, or remove the power cord ground prong.

Plumbing Requirements (for MODEL DEU2450CI, refer to page 6 for diagrams):

  • Water Supply Line: 1/4" OD copper, braided stainless steel, or PEX tubing.
  • Water Pressure: 35–120 psi (2.4–8.3 bar)
  • Excess Water Line for Connection: 5' (1.5 m)
  • Location: The water supply line should be located within the shaded area shown in the illustration. Recess the water shut-off into the wall or place it in an adjacent cabinet.
  • Connection: Connect the water supply line to the house supply with an easily accessible shut-off valve. Do not use self-piercing valves.
  • Filter: An in-line filter is required when water conditions have a high sediment content.
  • Reverse Osmosis System: Can be used provided there is constant water pressure of 35–120 psi (2.4–8.3 bar) supplied to the unit at all times. A copper line is not recommended for this application.

Door Panel Specifications (refer to pages 7-9 for diagrams):

  • Stainless Steel Panels: Available through authorized Sub-Zero dealers, including a stainless steel kickplate cover. Outdoor models require a Sub-Zero stainless steel outdoor accessory panel. Minimum 1/8" (3) reveals are required.
  • Custom Panels:
    • Panel Weight (MAX):
      • 24" Model: 22 lb (10 kg)
      • 15" Model: 15 lb (7 kg)
    • Panel Thickness: 5/8" (16) min – 3/4" (19) max for all models.
    • Solid Panels: Do not install a solid panel on glass door units. A solid door is available as a sales accessory.
    • Depth: The panel cannot exceed the maximum panel weight. The depth of each model is 23 1/8" (587). Allow for panel thickness when planning the finished opening depth.
    • Finish: Finish all sides of the custom panel as they may be visible when the door is open or through the glass of glass door models.
    • Handle: A D-style handle is recommended, located near the edge of the panel opposite the hinge and centered top to bottom. Stainless steel tubular and pro handles are available through authorized Sub-Zero dealers.
    • Caution: As reveals between cabinetry and the unit decrease, severe finger pinching can occur while the door is closing.

  • Toe Kick Clearance (refer to page 9 for diagrams):
    • The toe kick area can extend beyond the typical toe kick height, provided it does not exceed the dimensions shown.
    • Decorative kickplate height: 3 3/8" (86)* (not included, dimension varies with product height).
    • Decorative kickplate cannot extend beyond the point shown.
    • Kickplate adjustment: 1 1/8" (29).
    • Max depth: 3 1/2" (89).
  • Maximum Door Opening (refer to page 9 for diagrams):
    • Door Open Maximum: 115°
    • Door Open: 90°
    • As panel width and/or depth increases, potential for panel interference increases. Interference may be minimized by using the 90° door stop.

Standard Handles (refer to page 10 for details):

  • Optional stainless steel tubular and pro handles are available.
  • Handle Lengths:
    • Standard Height: Tubular: 24 3/16" (614), Pro: 22 1/2" (572)
    • ADA Height: Tubular: 22 3/16" (564), Pro: 20 1/2" (521)
    • Outdoor Model: Tubular: NA, Pro: 22 1/2" (572)

Wine Rack Facing (refer to page 11 for diagrams):

  • Full-Scale Template: Provides profile dimensions for the wood facing.
  • Wood Facing Width:
    • DEU2450W: 19 1/4" (489)
    • DEU1550W: 10 1/4" (260)
  • The natural cherrywood facing on wine storage racks can be stained and sealed, or replaced with wood more complementary to surrounding cabinetry.

Usage Features:

Maintenance Features:

  • Warranty Information (pages 12-13):
    • Sub-Zero Residential Limited Warranty:
      • Full Two Year Warranty: Covers all parts and labor for repair or replacement due to defects in materials or workmanship under normal residential use. Service must be performed by Sub-Zero Factory Certified Service.
      • Full Five Year Sealed System Warranty: Covers parts and labor for compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier, and all connecting tubing due to defects in materials or workmanship under normal residential use. Service must be performed by Sub-Zero Factory Certified Service.
      • Limited Twelve Year Sealed System Warranty: Covers repair or replacement of compressor, condenser, evaporator, drier, and all connecting tubing due to defects in materials or workmanship. Owner pays for other costs, including labor, if using Sub-Zero Factory Certified Service. If using non-certified service, owner must contact Sub-Zero for parts and will not be reimbursed for parts purchased from other sources.
      • Terms Applicable to Each Warranty: Applies only to products installed for normal residential use in the fifty states of the United States, the District of Columbia, or the ten provinces of Canada. Does not cover defects caused by negligence, accident, improper use, maintenance, installation, service, or repair. Sub-Zero Inc. is not responsible for consequential or incidental damages.
      • Cosmetic Defects: Stainless steel (doors, panels, handles, product frames, and interior surfaces) are covered by a limited 60-day parts and labor warranty for cosmetic defects.
      • Exclusions: Replacement water filters and air purification cartridges are not covered by the product warranty.
    • Sub-Zero Outdoor Limited Warranty:
      • Full One Year Warranty: Similar to the residential warranty but for outdoor-approved products.
      • Full Five Year Sealed System Warranty: Similar to the residential warranty but for outdoor-approved products.
      • Product Approval: Product must be approved for outdoor use, designated by model and serial number.
      • Cosmetic Defects: Stainless steel (doors, panels, handles, product frames, and interior surfaces) are covered by a limited 60-day parts and labor warranty for cosmetic defects.
      • Exclusions: Replacement water filters are not covered by the product warranty.
