Why is waste not breaking down in my Sun-Mar Other?

  If the waste in your Sun-Mar Other isn't breaking down and the drum is filling up quickly, it could be due to insufficient moisture or microbes in the compost. Ideally, the moisture content should be between 40-60% for aerobic microbes to thrive. Try adding Sun-Mar Microbe Mix to address this. Another possible cause is a room temperature below 55°F/13°C. Install a heat source to raise the temperature, ensuring it remains above 55°F/13°C to maintain composting activity.

  If you find large lumps in the compost of your Sun-Mar Other, and flies are present, it might be due to several factors. First, the compost may be too dry or not emptied into the finishing drawer promptly. Also, adding kitchen or garden waste can contribute to this issue. To resolve this, add 1/2 to 1 gallon of warm water to increase moisture. Remove or break apart any lumps, and reduce the compost level to half full or less. Rotate the compost for aeration and add a compost accelerant like Compost Quick and Microbe Mix, if available. It's best to avoid adding kitchen or garden scraps.
