Using your Sunbeam Slow Cooker 4.0L

Before First Use

Wash crock insert and lid thoroughly in warm soapy water before the initial use.

A Guide to Slow Cooking

Heat Setting 1

Provides controlled heat for gentle slow cooking, ideal for extended periods.

Heat Setting 2

Offers faster cooking; essential for baking, dried beans, pulses, and soups.

Timing

Recipes specify settings. Timing is flexible on setting 1; overcooking is unlikely.

Pre-heating

Essential for baking (min 20 mins) and can be done while preparing ingredients.

Roasting

Meat cooks slowly in moist heat; cheaper cuts are suitable. Use wire rack for fat drainage.

Beans and Pulses

Soak dried beans overnight. Cover with double water volume. Cook on setting 2 for 5-6 hours.

Casseroles

Brown coated meat before adding. Thicken casseroles with a cornflour slurry.

Baking

Use heat setting 2. Preheat cooker (min 20 mins). Cover tins with foil to prevent steam droplets.

Care and Cleaning

Cleaning After Use

Turn off power, unplug. Wash crock insert and lid in warm soapy water. Insert is dishwasher safe.
