Overview

This document describes the 4G Trail Camera, model HC-940Pro-LI, a device designed for remote monitoring and recording of wildlife or property. The camera offers advanced features for both photo and video capture, along with cellular connectivity for remote access and control.

Function Description

The 4G Trail Camera is a robust outdoor surveillance device that utilizes 4G cellular technology to provide real-time monitoring and data transmission. Its primary function is to capture high-resolution photos and videos of detected motion, which can then be instantly recorded to a cloud service or accessed via a dedicated mobile application (APP). This allows users to monitor remote locations without needing to physically retrieve the camera's memory card. The camera supports live video streaming through the APP, enabling users to check the camera's view in real-time.

The device is equipped with a motion sensor (PIR) that triggers recording upon detecting movement within its 90-degree detection angle. The trigger speed is remarkably fast at 0.3 seconds, ensuring that fleeting moments are captured. For night-time operation, the camera incorporates an infrared illumination system with 56 LEDs, providing an invisible flash range of up to 98 feet. This ensures clear black and white images and videos even in complete darkness, without startling wildlife. The optical field of view is 120 degrees, offering a wide coverage area.

Power for the camera is supplied by a 10000mA LI-Battery, and it also supports external power via a DC 12V/1A jack. The camera includes a built-in 2.4-inch TFT screen for on-site viewing and setup adjustments.

Usage Features

The 4G Trail Camera offers a comprehensive set of features designed for flexible and efficient use.

Remote Access and Control: A key feature is its 4G cellular connectivity, allowing for instant recording to the cloud and APP, as well as live video streaming. Users can control the camera and check recordings remotely via the "SUNTEKCAM" APP, available for both iOS and Android devices. To set up remote access, users need to insert a SIM card (prepaid and with PIN code disabled) and bind the camera to the APP using its device ID. The APP facilitates viewing of captured photos and videos, and allows users to send commands to the camera, such as initiating a capture.

Photo and Video Recording: The camera supports a wide range of photo resolutions, from 3 MP up to 30 MP, and saves images in JPG format. For video, it offers resolutions including 4K, 2K, 1080P, 720P, and VGA, with videos saved in MP4/H.265 format. Users can customize video lengths from 5s to 90s. The camera can operate in various capture modes: Camera (photos only), Video (videos only), Camera & Video (both), and Time-lapse. The time-lapse mode allows for capturing images at set intervals (e.g., 5/30min, 1/2/3/6/12/24hour). Multi-shot mode enables capturing up to 9 photos per detection. Each capture is stamped with date, time, temperature, and moon phase information. During the daytime, recordings are in colorful mode, while at night, they switch to black and white.

Memory and Storage: The camera does not have internal memory but supports external SD cards up to 256GB (not included). This ample storage capacity ensures that a large number of photos and videos can be stored before needing to be offloaded or overwritten. The "Over write" function can be enabled for cycle recording, automatically deleting older files to make space for new ones.

Setup and Configuration: The camera's settings can be adjusted through its built-in screen and setup buttons. The menu allows configuration of image size, video resolution, video length, time-lapse intervals, multi-shot sequence, ISO sensitivity, PIR sensitivity (High/Medium/Low), and language. It also allows setting the working timer, date/time, and formatting the memory card.

System Upgrade: The device supports system upgrades via the APP. Users can check for the latest firmware version and initiate an update if available, ensuring the camera always has the most current features and bug fixes.

Maintenance Features

The 4G Trail Camera is designed for durability and ease of maintenance in outdoor environments.

Power Management: The camera uses a 10000mA LI-Battery, providing extended operational periods. The option for an external 12V DC power source allows for continuous operation without relying solely on the internal battery, which is beneficial for long-term deployments.

Environmental Resilience: With an IP65 waterproof level, the camera is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, making it suitable for various weather conditions. It can operate in a wide temperature range from -4°F to +158°F (-20°C to +70°C), ensuring reliability in diverse climates.

Troubleshooting and Support: The manual provides guidance on common issues, such as setting up the SIM card and APP, and confirming live image reception. It also specifies the types of SIM cards supported, particularly noting that US/Canada users should acquire US version cameras. For any questions during use or setup, users are advised to contact support for solutions.

Physical Components: The camera's physical components include an antenna for cellular signal, a high-power invisible LED array for night vision, an LED indicator, a photosensitive sensor, a lens, a PIR sensor, a latch for securing the housing, a stand knob port, a color display screen, an SD card slot, a USB port, a SIM card slot, setup buttons, and a battery lock. These components are designed for easy access and maintenance, such as inserting/removing the battery, SD card, and SIM card. The battery latch mechanism ensures secure battery placement and easy removal when needed.

Overall, the 4G Trail Camera HC-940Pro-LI is a feature-rich, robust, and user-friendly device for remote surveillance, offering convenience through cellular connectivity and remote control via a dedicated mobile application.
