Why won't the pilot light stay lit on my Superior Fireplaces MHD 35 Indoor Fireplace?
    • D
      David RamirezAug 27, 2025
If the pilot light on your Superior Fireplaces Indoor Fireplace won't stay lit after following the lighting instructions, it could be due to a defective pilot generator (thermocouple). Ensure the pilot flame is correctly impinging on the thermocouple. Clean and adjust the pilot for maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple. Also, make sure the connection between the valve and thermocouple is tight and secure.

What to do if my Superior Fireplaces Indoor Fireplace has frequent pilot/burner outages?
    • M
      michael94Sep 3, 2025
Frequent pilot/burner outages in your Superior Fireplaces Indoor Fireplace could be due to a pilot flame that is either too low or too high (blowing), causing the pilot/valve safety to drop out. To resolve this, clean and/or adjust the pilot flame to ensure maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple.

What to do if the pilot is burning but there's no gas to the burner in my Superior Fireplaces MHD 35 Indoor Fireplace?
    • M
      Mathew BuckNov 11, 2025
If the pilot is burning but there's no gas to the burner with the valve knob in the “ON” position and the burner switch ON, it could be due to several reasons. First, check the wall switch and wiring for secure connections. You can bypass the wall switch by using a jumper wire across the terminals; if the burner ignites, the switch is faulty and needs replacement. If the switch is not the issue, bypass the wall switch wires at the valve with a jumper wire; if the burner then ignites, the wiring or connections are faulty. Also, the thermopile might not be generating enough millivolts. Use a millivolt meter to check the thermopile terminals on the gas valve; the reading should be at least 325 millivolts with the optional wall switch OFF. Replace the thermopile if the reading is below this mi...

How to fix a spark igniter that won't light the pilot on my Superior Fireplaces MHD 35 Indoor Fireplace?
    • K
      Kelli FisherNov 18, 2025
If the spark igniter on your Superior Fireplaces Indoor Fireplace fails to light the pilot after repeatedly pressing the igniter button, several factors could be at play. Begin by checking for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and the electrode wire is properly connected, the igniter itself may be defective and require replacement. If there is a spark, try lighting the pilot with a match. If it lights, the issue might be an improper gas mixture; allow a longer purge period. If it still doesn't light, inspect the gap at the electrode and pilot, ensuring it measures about 1/8” for a strong spark. If the gap is correct, the pilot might need replacing. Also, verify that the gas supply pressure is within the limits specified on the rating plate. Lastly, a plugged pilot ori...
