• Apply engine oil to the rocker arm shaft sufficiently.
• Install the rocker arms 4, the springs 5 and the rocker arm
shaft.
• Install the valve springs with the small-pitch portion A facing
cylinder head. B Large-pitch portion.
• Tighten the rocker arm shaft set bolt 6 and the cylinder head
plug 7 to the specified torque.

• Put on the valve spring retainer, and using the valve lifter, press
down the springs, fit the cotter halves to the stem end, and re-
lease the lifter to allow the cotter 1 to wedge in between re-
tainer and stem. Be sure that the rounded lip 2 of the cotter fits
snugly into the groove 3 in the stem end.
