To adjust the drive chain, follow the pro-
cedure below:
1. Place the motorcycle on the side
stand.
2. Loosen the axle nut

3. Loosen the right and left lock nuts
2.
4. Turn the right and left adjuster bolts
3 until the chain has 0.8 – 1.2 in (20
– 30 mm) of slack halfway between
the engine sprocket and rear
sprocket.
WARNING
Too much chain slack can cause the
chain to come off the sprockets,
resulting in a crash or serious dam-
age to the motorcycle.
Inspect and adjust the drive chain
slack before each use.
CAUTION
A hot exhaust pipe or muffler can
burn you. The exhaust pipe or muf-
fler will be hot enough to burn you
for some time after stopping the
engine.
Wait until the exhaust pipe or muffler
cools before adjusting the drive
chain.
