Introduction
z Modify a machine resource (example: registry key or .INI file).
z Locate and delete a file and its directory (example: to remove a spyware program).
z Free disk space by clearing the Temp directory, the Recycle Bin, or the Internet
cache.
z Find the current Windows version.
z Find and report system information and take action depending on the results.
z Map a network drive.
z Create, edit, or manage virtual software layers on computers that have the SVS
Driver (Software Virtualization Agent). For details, see the article Using WiseScripts
to Manage and Update Virtual Software Packages in the Altiris Knowledgebase
(article 27373).
z Assign license numbers from a text file.
Getting Started
Following is a broad outline of possible steps for building and distributing an installation:
1. Create a new installation or WiseScript.
See Starting the Software on page 15.
2. (WiseScript Package Editor only) Set options on the Installation Expert pages to
create basic installation functionality.

3. Edit the script in Script Editor to create advanced installation functionality.

4. Create or customize dialog boxes.

5. Test and debug the installation.

6. (WiseScript Package Editor only) Explore options for outputting the installation .EXE
file and prepare it for distribution.

7. To create a compiled .EXE, click Compile.
