Overview

This document describes the Syozen Z2/Z2S controller, a versatile gaming peripheral designed for use across multiple platforms including Switch, Android, Linux, Windows, and Apple devices. It offers both wireless (Bluetooth and 2.4G) and wired connection options, along with advanced features like Turbo, Keymap, and Motion Assist, enhancing the gaming experience for various types of games and user preferences.

Function Description

The Syozen Z2/Z2S is a multi-platform gaming controller that provides a comprehensive set of input options for an immersive gaming experience. It features standard gamepad buttons, including a D-pad, ABXY buttons (with a layout swap feature), shoulder buttons (L, R, LT, RT), and two analog thumbsticks. Additionally, it includes four customizable M1-M4 buttons on the underside for advanced mapping. The controller integrates a Turbo function for rapid button presses, a Keymap feature for reassigning M-buttons, and a Motion Assist function that utilizes a gyro sensor to mimic right thumbstick input, particularly useful for games without native motion control support. It also supports different connection modes: Bluetooth for wireless pairing with various devices, 2.4G wireless via a USB receiver, and wired connection for stable, low-latency gameplay. The controller is powered by a rechargeable battery and includes indicators for battery status.

Usage Features

Connection and Pairing:

The Syozen Z2/Z2S offers flexible connection methods tailored to different platforms:

  • Switch (Bluetooth): To connect via Bluetooth, users must first turn on their Switch, navigate to "Controller" and then "Change Grip/Order." Then, hold the south button and the Home button on the controller for 2 seconds until the light changes from red to white. Release and wait for the light to turn red, indicating a successful connection. For general linking or waking up the Switch, pressing the Home button will connect the controller if it was the last Bluetooth-connected device. Alternatively, pressing the south button + Home button will link by mode if it was previously connected in Switch mode.
  • Switch (Wired): For a wired connection, users need to enable "Wired Communication" on their Switch and then connect the controller to the dock using a USB cable.
  • Android/Linux (Gamepad Mode - Bluetooth): To pair in Gamepad Mode, enable Bluetooth on the Android/Linux device and select to pair a new device. Hold the east button and the Home button on the controller for 2 seconds until the light changes from green to white. Search for "Gamepad" on the device and pair. The light will stay green upon successful connection. General linking is achieved by pressing the Home button. For mode-specific linking, press the east button + Home button.
  • Android (Virtual Touch Mode - Bluetooth): This mode is designed for Android games that do not natively support controllers. Enable Bluetooth and select to pair a new device. Hold the west button and the Home button for 2 seconds until the light changes from yellow to white. Pair with "Gamepad_Touch" and the light will stay yellow. Users will need to open the "Keylinker" app to utilize this mode. General linking is done by pressing the Home button, while mode-specific linking uses the west button + Home button.
  • Windows/Apple Devices (Bluetooth): For these platforms, enable Bluetooth and select to add a new device. Hold the north button and the Home button for 2 seconds until the light changes from blue to white. Pair with "Xbox Wireless Controller." The light will stay blue upon successful connection. General linking is by pressing the Home button. For mode-specific linking, press the north button + Home button for Xbox mode, or the south button + Home button for Switch mode.
  • 2.4G Connection: For 2.4G wireless, hold the south button and the Home button for 2 seconds until the light turns from red to white. Plug the receiver into a USB port. The light will stay red upon success, and the controller will function as an Xbox 360 controller by default. Users can select different modes (Xbox 360, Switch, Android) by holding the "+" and "-" buttons for 3 seconds. Linking/waking up is similar to Switch mode.
  • Wired Connection (Windows): Connect via USB. It will be recognized as an "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows." If the Capture button is held while connecting, it will be recognized as a "Switch Pro Controller."

Advanced Features:

  • Turbo Function: This feature allows for rapid, repeated button presses.
    • Setting Turbo: Press the Turbo button simultaneously with the desired action button. The LED will turn on. Pressing the action button will activate Turbo, and releasing it will stop.
    • Setting Auto Turbo: Press the Turbo button with an already Turbo-enabled action button. The LED will blink. The button will be pressed automatically at the set speed. Pressing the button pauses Auto Turbo, and pressing again resumes it.
    • Turning Off Turbo: Press the Turbo button with an Auto Turbo-enabled action button. The LED will turn off.
    • Clearing Settings: Hold the Turbo button for 5 seconds to clear all Turbo settings. All settings are also cleared when the controller is shut off.
    • Speed Adjustment: Hold the Turbo button and move the right thumbstick up or down to cycle through preset speeds (5, 12, 20 hits/s).
    • Supported keys for Turbo include A/B/X/Y/L/R/LT/RT/DPAD. Settings can also be managed via the Keylinker App.
  • Keymap Function: This allows users to reassign the M1-M4 buttons.
    • General Operation: Press the Keymap button to activate/deactivate. If mapping exists, both lights stay blue, and the M-button functions as mapped.
    • Mapping: Press the Keymap button for 2 seconds until the left light blinks red. Press an M1-M4 button to assign mapping. The left light will stay blue, and the right light will blink red. Press the desired button(s) to be mapped (sequence, time, and interval are recorded). Press the Keymap button again to save; both lights will stay blue.
    • Clearing Mapping: Press the Keymap button for 2 seconds until the left light blinks red. Press an M1-M4 button to unmap. The left light will stay blue, and the right light will blink red. Press the Keymap button again to finish. If other mappings exist, both lights stay blue; otherwise, both lights turn red.
    • Only M1-M4 buttons can be mapped. Existing mappings are replaced by new settings. Settings can also be managed via the Keylinker App.
  • Motion Assist: This feature uses the gyro sensor to act as the right thumbstick, providing motion control in games that don't natively support it, while the right thumbstick remains functional.
    • Global Motion Assist: Press the Motion Assist button to activate/deactivate.
    • Responsive Motion Assist: Hold the Motion Assist button for 2 seconds (light blinks), then press the desired button to activate. The light will blink slowly, and motion assist will activate only when that button is pressed. Press the Motion Assist button again to shut off and clear settings. Settings are also cleared when the controller is shut off.
    • Motion Adjustment: The curve of the right thumbstick can be adjusted in the Keylinker app.
    • Calibration: When Motion Assist is on, place the controller horizontally and hold the A and B buttons together for 2 seconds.
  • RT/LT Shift: Each RT/LT trigger has an independent two-position slide switch. Sliding towards the inside provides full travel, while sliding towards the outside provides short travel, allowing for on-the-fly adjustment during gameplay.
  • Layout Swap:
    • Adaptive Swap: The controller automatically changes to Xbox layout in Xbox/Android mode.
    • Quick Swap: Hold the Home button while holding the east button to manually switch between Nintendo and Xbox button layouts.

General Usage:

  • Pair & Link: Initial pairing is required only once per device and mode. The latest paired device info for each mode (Switch, Xbox, Android) is saved. If paired with another device in the same mode, re-pairing is necessary. Pairing attempts last 30 seconds, linking attempts last 10 seconds, after which the controller shuts off if unsuccessful.
  • Sleep & Reset: The controller automatically sleeps after 5 minutes of idle time or when disconnected. Pressing the Home button for 5 seconds will reset and force sleep.

Maintenance Features

  • Battery & Charge:
    • When the battery is low, the light will breathe.
    • Charge the controller via a USB-C cable connected to a DC power supply (output voltage 5V).
    • The light will stay lit once fully charged.
    • The controller supports playing while charging.

The Syozen Z2/Z2S is designed to be a robust and adaptable controller, catering to a wide range of gaming preferences and platform requirements with its extensive feature set and user-friendly interface.
