Mounting - coupling
1 Checking
Check that the machine is fitted with a main gearbox suitable for a swivel hitch. The gearbox
label, shown at A, must be green. This does not apply to models 4028 C - 4032 C and 4036 C
which does not have a label.
Models Taarup 4028 C, 4032 C and 4036 C
Check that the cylinder K of the machine is mounted in the hole shown. The hole L is used for
machines equipped with swath deflector.
2
- 3 P.T.O. 540 or 1000 r.p.m. selection
The swivel gearbox B can be mounted in two ways, to accept either P.T.O. 540 r.p.m. or 1000
r.p.m., input speed. The gearbox is mounted from the factory for P.T.O. = 1000 r.p.m. input
speed.
If the P.T.O. input speed is to be altered for P.T.O. = 540 r.p.m. the gearboxes must be removed and
turned through 180
o
so that the former input gearbox becomes the output gearbox and the former
output gearbox becomes the input gearbox. The breather plugs have to be moved to the top posi-
tion on both gearboxes.
If possible a gearbox for P.T.O. = 1000 r.p.m. should be used. This is especially important if the
tractor has over 70 kW at the power transmission (a high number of revolutions = lower torque at
the P.T.O. shaft).
The two splined shafts of the gearboxes have been marked from the factory with a label as shown
at C. Before starting up a new machine check that the gearboxes are mounted for the
required P.T.O. input speed, see page 64.
It is dangerous to couple a tractor with P.T.O. = 1000 r.p.m. to a machine mounted
with swivel gearbox for P.T.O. = 540 r.p.m.
4
- 5 Coupling with the lifting arms of the tractor
Adjust the right lift arm D to the same height as the left lift arm. The drawbar E should be
swung aside or removed.
Mount the machine to the tractor's lift arms and tighten stabilizer chains F, or fit stabilizing
struts.
Coupling between machine and tractor must be carried out according to directions.
The two linkage pins must be securely locked with heavy retaining clips. If the ma-
chine becomes disconnected from the tractor it could cause severe damage or death.
