1 - 4 Friction clutch with built-in freewheel function
Models 4024 - 4028 - 4032 - 4036: The machine friction clutch A is located under the drawbar.
Models 4028 C - 4032 C - 4036 C: The friction clutch is located at G. Ensure that the friction
clutch, which has a built-in freewheel function, is in good operating condition.
The clutch moment can be Nm = 900, 1200 or 1450, depending on drawbar or gear type. The
clutch moment is stamped into the clutch at F.
Type of drawbar P.T.O. Nm Remarks
Swivel hitch 540/1000 1200
Wide angle shaft 540 1450
Wide angle shaft 1000 900 Only model 4036
The clutch is not to be blocked or otherwise fully or partly put out of action. Other-
wise the factory guarantee is annulled.
To prevent unnecessary stress on the friction clutch and transmission the tractor's
P.T.O. speed of 540 or 1000 r.p.m. must be maintained. Too low a P.T.O. r.p.m. will
load the friction clutch unnecessarily, and it will be overheated and worn rapidly. If
the clutch is overheated the friction discs may be damaged and will require replacement.
Before starting up a new machine and after long storage the friction clutch must be freed
and checked in the following way:
Loosen all bolts C, 5 turns.
Block the cutterbar to prevent turning with a wooden chock D placed between 2 cutting discs
that run toward each other.
Start the tractor and let the clutch rotate freely until it gets handwarm. Stop the tractor, re-
tighten all bolts and remove the wooden chock.
The spring adjustment of the clutch is pre-set, - the springs cannot be adjusted. Replace the friction
discs B when it is estimated that the torque setting of the clutch is too low. Note: The friction
clutch with moment on 900 Nm have only two friction discs.

Universal joint
Check universal joint between the gearbox and the cutterbar 2 - 3 times per season. Bolts E must
be locked with LOCTITE 242. See also page 71.
