Overview

The OY1110 LoRaWAN Temperature and Humidity Sensor is designed for indoor climate control, energy optimization, and damage prevention in environments such as attics and basements. It is optimized for reliable and secure measurements with an expected life span of over 10 years.

Function Description:

The OY1110 measures both temperature and humidity in indoor environments. It transmits these measurements periodically over a LoRaWAN network. The device supports both single and grouped measurement reports to optimize time granularity and battery life. It features secure boot, encrypted firmware, and hardware-based ultra-secure key storage to ensure data integrity and privacy.

Usage Features:

  • Installation: The sensor consists of a bottom piece for wall mounting and a top piece containing active components. The bottom piece can be mounted with screws or adhesive tape, with an "UP" arrow indicating orientation.
  • Activation: The unit is shipped in sleep mode. It is activated by pressing the push button for 3 seconds until the red LED flashes twice. Holding the button for longer than 5 seconds should be avoided. A long (2s) flash indicates successful joining of the LoRaWAN network.
  • Device States: The sensor operates in four states:
    1. Initial: Low power state during transport, radio inactive. (LED: 1 short flash)
    2. Joining: Attempting to join a LoRaWAN network. (LED: 2 short flashes)
    3. Configure: Enables quick over-the-air configuration by polling the server for commands for 2 minutes, sending uplink status commands (0x20). (LED: 1 long flash)
    4. Operational: Joined to the network, periodically measures temperature and humidity, and sends reports. (LED: 1 long flash)
  • State Check: To check the device state, press and hold the button until the red LED starts flashing after 0.5 seconds.
  • Re-join Functionality: The device monitors network connectivity by expecting periodic downlink messages. If no network activity is detected for 288 uplinks (approximately 3 days at a 15-minute interval), the device attempts to re-join the network. This process leverages the ADRAckReq functionality, which typically triggers a downlink every 64th uplink.
  • Over-the-Air Configuration: Measurement and transmission intervals can be configured remotely. The default measurement and reporting interval is 15 minutes but can be adjusted from 1 minute to 1 week for measurements and 1 minute to 12 weeks for transmissions. For intervals longer than 2 hours, only full hours are supported, up to a maximum of 168 hours (7 days).
  • Grouped Measurement Reports: To conserve energy and optimize data transmission, multiple measurements can be grouped into a single report. The Tx group size command defines how many measurements are included in each report. The default is 1 (single measurement report).
  • Downlink Commands and Queries: The sensor can be controlled via in-band commands and queries sent from the server application on LoRaWAN port 1. These commands allow for setting parameters (e.g., measurement interval, TX group size), querying device status, and performing actions like device reset.
  • Uplink Status Reports: The device sends unsolicited uplink status reports (0x20) during the Configure state and responds to queries in the Operational state. This provides quick feedback on installation success and allows for remote configuration.

Maintenance Features:

  • Remote Reset: The device can be remotely reset, forcing it back into the Joining state and restoring all settings to factory defaults. This is done via a downlink command (Port 1: 0305).
  • Long-term Operation: Designed for 10+ years of maintenance-free operation, minimizing the need for on-site interventions.
  • Firmware Integrity: Secure boot ensures firmware integrity, preventing malware injection and unauthorized modifications. Encrypted firmware protects against reverse engineering.
  • Troubleshooting: Uplink status reports (0x01 20 00) provide diagnostic information. Non-zero data in these reports indicates an error, which can be used for troubleshooting with Talkpool support.
