Overview

This document describes the TaoTronics TT-AC003 Window Air Conditioner, a device designed to provide cooling and air circulation within a room. The manual outlines its installation, operation, and maintenance procedures, emphasizing safety precautions throughout.

Function Description

The TaoTronics TT-AC003 is a window-mounted air conditioner primarily used for cooling indoor spaces. It offers various operating modes, including Cool, Energy Save, Fan, Dry, and Auto, allowing users to select the most suitable setting for their comfort needs. The unit can be turned on or off via both the control panel on the unit itself and a remote control. When turned on via the control panel, it automatically defaults to Energy Save mode.

The air conditioner features a dual-8 display that shows the set temperature in Cool, Energy Save, Dry, and Auto modes, or the room temperature in Fan mode. For timer settings, it displays the delay time. Users can adjust the set temperature or delay time using dedicated increase and decrease buttons. The fan speed can be adjusted to Low, Medium, High, or Auto settings, providing flexibility in airflow intensity.

A unique "I FEEL" function is available, where the unit operates based on ambient temperature values sent by the remote control every 10 minutes. If the controller doesn't receive an ambient temperature value after 11 minutes, it reverts to using the AC's internal temperature sensor. This function is not memorized if the power is turned off.

The unit also includes a SLEEP mode, which can be activated in Cool, Save, or Dry modes to maintain a comfortable temperature during sleep. A timer function allows users to set the unit to automatically turn on or off within a 0.5 to 24-hour window. The timer setting is confirmed after 5 seconds of adjustment.

For safety and convenience, the power supply cord incorporates a current detection device with TEST and RESET buttons. Users are advised to periodically check the power cord by pressing the TEST button (which should turn off the indicator and cause the RESET button to pop out) and then the RESET button (which should re-engage and turn the indicator back on). This confirms the protection device is functioning normally.

Usage Features

Installation of the TT-AC003 involves several steps, starting with attaching a top mounting rail and seal strip to the unit, followed by securing it to the outer case with screws. Accordion panels are then installed on both sides of the air conditioner, and window sill and sash seals are applied to the window frame. The unit is placed on the windowsill, ensuring the lower guide rail adheres to the sill and the top mounting rail aligns with the window when closed. It's important to position the air conditioner horizontally or slightly inclined outwards. Window locking brackets are installed to secure the window, and a foam top window gasket is used to seal the gap between the glass and the window, preventing rain and insects.

The unit features a drain hole for condensed water. While it drains automatically when water reaches a certain level, a proper-sized drain hose (not included) can be connected to divert water if the dripping sound is bothersome. Foam insulation is also applied to the accordion panel and window frame to enhance sealing.

The remote control provides comprehensive control over the air conditioner's functions. It allows users to turn the unit on/off, cycle through modes (AUTO, COOL, SAVE, FAN, DRY), adjust temperature and time, and change fan speed. The "I FEEL" button activates the intelligent temperature sensing feature. SLEEP mode and timer functions are also accessible via the remote. A Child Lock function can be activated by simultaneously pressing the "+" and "-" buttons, indicated by a LOCK indicator on the remote. The temperature display can be switched between Celsius and Fahrenheit by pressing the "-" and "MODE" buttons simultaneously when the unit is off. A light function, toggled by pressing the "+" and "FAN" buttons simultaneously for 3 seconds, controls the unit's display light.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of the air conditioner. Before any cleaning, the unit must be turned off and disconnected from the power supply to prevent electric shock. It is explicitly stated not to wash the air conditioner with water or use volatile liquids like wax, thinner, or strong detergents, as these can damage the unit's appearance or components. A soft, dry, or damp cloth with neutral abluent is recommended for cleaning the panel.

The air filter requires cleaning about once every three months, or more frequently in dusty environments. To clean the filter, users must pull the groove on both sides of the panel to open it, then remove the filter. Dust can be removed with a dust catcher or water. If the filter is very dirty, warm water (below 113°F) with a neutral abluent can be used. After cleaning, the filter should be dried in a shady place, avoiding direct heat sources like fire or hair dryers, which could deform or ignite it. It is important not to touch the shaft metal fins inside the air conditioner when the filter is removed, as they can be sharp. The unit should not be operated without the filter installed.

The outer case of the air conditioner should be checked once or twice a year for damage or rust. If any issues are found, the dealer should be contacted. During seasons when the air conditioner is not in use, covering it with a protective cover is recommended to reduce damage or rust.

The manual also includes a troubleshooting guide to help users identify and resolve common issues before contacting customer service. This covers problems such as the unit not starting, not cooling effectively, or issues with remote control reception. Solutions range from checking power connections and filter cleanliness to adjusting settings or removing obstacles. For example, if the unit doesn't cool, users are advised to check if curtains or furniture block airflow, clean the air filter, or adjust the temperature settings. If the remote control isn't working, checking its range, removing obstacles, and replacing batteries are suggested. Any abnormal sounds, smells, or water leakage should prompt immediate disconnection of power and contact with customer service.
