Overview

The Targus Wireless 2.4 GHz Presenter with Laser Pointer is a versatile tool designed for effective presentations. It combines the functionality of a wireless presenter with a laser pointer, offering a comprehensive solution for controlling presentations and highlighting key information.

Function Description:

This device serves as a remote control for presentations, primarily designed to emulate command keys in PowerPoint®. It allows users to navigate through slides, highlight content with a laser pointer, and manage the presentation flow from a distance. The wireless presenter operates on 2.4 GHz technology, providing a reliable connection and extended range.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Wireless Technology: 2.4 GHz RF (Radio Frequency)
  • Operating Range: Up to 33 feet (10 meters)
  • Laser Type: Class 2 Laser Product
  • Power Source: 1 x AAA battery
  • Connectivity: USB receiver (plug-and-play, no software drivers required)
  • Operating System Compatibility: Windows ME/2000/XP
  • Hardware Requirements: USB port

Usage Features:

The presenter features four control buttons that correspond to common presentation commands:

  • Page Up: Navigates to the previous slide.
  • Page Down: Navigates to the next slide.
  • Laser Button: Activates the laser pointer for highlighting specific areas on a screen or projection.
  • Darken Screen/Resume: Allows the user to temporarily black out the screen during a presentation to draw audience attention back to the presenter, and then resume the presentation.
  • Application Switch: This button's specific function is not explicitly detailed but typically allows switching between open applications or presentation modes.
  • On/Off Switch: Located on the side of the presenter, this switch conserves battery life when the device is not in use.

The device offers true plug-and-play capability, meaning no additional software drivers are needed for installation. Users simply plug the USB receiver into an available USB port on their computer, and the operating system will automatically identify and install the default driver. The receiver and presenter are designed to synchronize automatically upon connection.

Maintenance Features:

  • Battery Installation: The presenter uses a single AAA battery. To install or replace the battery, the user needs to slide the on/off switch to the "off" position, press the battery cover hinge on the bottom of the presenter, slide the cover off, insert the battery ensuring correct polarity, and then slide the cover back into place until it clicks. Finally, the presenter can be turned on.
  • Synchronization: In cases where the presenter and receiver do not synchronize automatically due to environmental interference or other issues, the link can be re-established. This involves pressing and releasing the connect button on the receiver, followed by pressing and releasing the connect button on the bottom of the presenter.
  • Troubleshooting: If the response time is slow or the presenter intermittently stops working, several troubleshooting steps are recommended:
    • Ensure the presenter is within the 33-foot (10-meter) range of its receiver.
    • Increase the distance between the presenter's receiver and other wireless devices' base units to minimize interference.
    • Turn off any nearby wireless devices and their base units.
    • Replace the battery if it is low.
    • Re-synchronize the receiver and presenter as described above.

Safety Measures:

The device incorporates a Class 2 laser product, and specific safety guidelines must be followed:

  • Never point the laser at people's eyes or view the laser beam directly, as prolonged exposure can be hazardous.
  • Avoid pointing the laser beam at mirrors or other highly-reflective surfaces.
  • Keep the presenter away from young children.
  • Do not view the laser beam using telescopic devices such as microscopes or binoculars.
  • Any attempt to disassemble, adjust, or repair the presenter by unauthorized personnel may result in exposure to laser light or other safety hazards and could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
  • The device contains a low-power transmitter and sends out radio frequency (RF) signals. Unauthorized modifications could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

The Targus Wireless 2.4 GHz Presenter with Laser Pointer is a user-friendly and efficient device for professionals who frequently deliver presentations, offering convenience, reliability, and essential control features.
