Overview

This document describes the functions, usage, and maintenance of a television set.

Function Description

The television is designed to display pictures, play music, and watch movies from various sources. It supports digital TV broadcasting and can connect to external devices such as Blu-ray Disc players, HD camcorders, HD game consoles, and PCs. The TV features a common interface (CI) module slot for decoding encrypted digital TV channels, allowing access to pay TV services. It also includes a USB multimedia player for viewing photos, listening to music, and watching videos stored on a USB drive. The TV offers a comprehensive Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) to display scheduled digital TV programmes, enabling users to navigate, select, and view programmes, set reminders, and manage schedules. Teletext functionality is available for both analogue and digital TV channels, providing additional information and services. The T-Link function facilitates communication between the TV and connected HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) devices, enabling features like one-touch play and system standby.

Usage Features

Basic Operations: The TV can be switched on and off using the power cord connection, the power button on the set, or the remote control. An initial setup process guides users through selecting language, scanning channels, and other basic configurations. Channels can be accessed using numeric buttons, P+/- buttons, or the channel list displayed via the LIST button on the remote control. Volume is controlled using V+/- buttons, and the Mute button temporarily silences the sound.

Connecting External Devices: The TV provides multiple connection options. For power and antenna, simply connect the respective cables. For Blu-ray Disc players, HD camcorders, HD game consoles, and PCs, HDMI ports are available. The HDMI 1 port supports Audio Return Channel (ARC) functionality. A common interface slot allows for the insertion of a CI module to access encrypted digital TV services. USB connectors are provided for data input from USB storage devices, enabling multimedia playback. It is recommended to use high-quality, short HDMI cables to avoid interference and to ensure USB devices are directly connected or use short extenders with ferrite beads.

TV Settings and Customization: The TV settings menu, accessible via the Menu or Option button on the remote, allows users to adjust various parameters such as picture and sound settings. Users can select their preferred menu language from a list of available options. Input settings can be customized to match the type of apparatus connected to each connector, with the selected source label appearing in the input source list. The TV can be switched between "Shop" and "Home" modes, with "Home" mode featuring an automatic standby function after 4 hours of inactivity, which can be deactivated.

Channel Management: Channels can be installed automatically through a search process, which is useful during initial setup, when no channels are found, or when updating existing channels. The TV arranges channels according to the selected country. After automatic search, channels can be organized, skipped, or added to a favorites list via the Channel organizer menu.

Subtitle and Teletext Functions: Subtitles can be enabled or disabled for each TV channel. For digital broadcasts, users can select preferred primary and secondary subtitle languages and choose a subtitle type, including "Hearing impaired" subtitles. Teletext allows users to select a decoding page language and, for digital channels, a digital teletext language, which relates to different initial Teletext pages.

Multimedia Playback: The USB multimedia player allows users to view pictures (JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF), play music (MP3), and watch movies (H.265, H.264, MPEG1/2/4, VC1, AC3, AAC, HEAAC, LPCM). To access multimedia content, users select "Media" from the source menu. For pictures, a slide show can be started, and options like play, pause, and rotation are available. For music, automatic playback begins from the selected song, with options for play, pause, and different play modes. For movies, automatic playback starts from the selected video, with options for play, pause, different play modes, screen modes, and preset picture settings.

T-Link (CEC) Features: T-Link enables one-touch play, where pressing the play button on a connected device's remote (e.g., DVD player) automatically switches the TV to the correct source and starts playback. System standby allows the TV and all connected HDMI devices to enter standby mode by pressing the power button on the TV remote.

Maintenance Features

Battery Management: Batteries in the remote control should not be exposed to excessive heat. For prolonged periods of non-use, batteries should be removed to prevent damage from deterioration and corrosive leakage. Used batteries should be disposed of according to local recycling facilities. If batteries are replaced, only the recommended type should be used to avoid explosion risks.

Software Updates: The TV supports software updates, which can be initiated through the "Software update" function in the system settings menu. Users can select their desired update method.

Factory Reset: The "Reset shop" function allows users to restore the TV to its factory default settings. This requires entering a password (default is 1234, or a user-defined password, with a super password of 0423 available to override forgotten codes). After a reset, the initial setup "Hello" screen appears, guiding the user through re-configuration.

Troubleshooting: A troubleshooting guide is provided to address common issues:

  • No picture or sound: Check power cord, source type, antenna connection, volume/mute settings, and headphone connection. Ensure the TV is receiving a signal from broadcasting stations.
  • Unclear picture: Verify antenna cable connection, signal reception, and switch off other peripherals (e.g., VHS camera, camcorder) if they cause interference. Address "ghost" or double images by using a highly directional antenna. Horizontal dotted lines caused by electrical interference (e.g., hair dryer, neon lights) should be resolved by turning off or removing the source of interference.
  • Picture too dark, too light, or tinted: Adjust colour, brightness, and sharpness settings.
  • Remote control not working: Check remote control batteries, ensure the remote sensor window on the TV front is not obstructed by strong fluorescent lighting, and clean the sensor window with a soft cloth.

For technical issues not resolved by these suggestions, users are advised to refer to the warranty card for service information.

Operating and Storage Conditions: The TV is designed to operate within a temperature range of 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F) and a humidity of 20% to 75% (non-condensing). For storage, the recommended temperature range is -15°C to 45°C (5°F to 113°F) and humidity of 10% to 90% (non-condensing).
