Appendix D – Programming Ramp/Soak Routines
Ramp/Soak routines can be created to run long repeated processes or simple routines. In the example shown below, the
controller will begin applying power to the TE device in the heating or cooling mode as required in order to reach 25 °C in
100 seconds. The controller then will hold this temperature for the next 100 seconds using the proportional bandwidth (P),
integral gain (I), and derivative gain (D) settings. The controller will then proceed to step 2, taking 100 seconds to reach 30
°C, and then maintaining 30 °C for the next 100 seconds. The controller will then proceed to step 3 and so on. After the
controller finishes step 8, the program will automatically end, and the controller will set the main output% to 0%.
