This document describes the Technics Ottava S SC-C50 / SC-C30 Wireless Speaker System, a device designed to deliver a high-quality, emotive musical experience. The system is engineered to be borderless and timeless, connecting people to music across cultures and generations.

Function Description

The Technics Ottava S SC-C50 / SC-C30 is a wireless speaker system that allows users to stream online music services or music files from their smartphone or tablet. It supports various input sources, including:

Auxiliary Input: Connects portable audio players or other analog audio output devices using a 3.5 mm (1/8") analog audio cable.
Digital Audio Output Device: Connects CD players or other digital audio output devices using an optical digital audio cable.
USB Device: Plays music stored on a connected USB device. This function is typically managed through the "Technics Audio Center" app.
Bluetooth®: Streams audio wirelessly from Bluetooth®-enabled devices. The system supports pairing with up to 8 devices, with the oldest unused device being replaced if a 9th is paired.
Internet Radio and Podcasts: Plays internet radio and podcasts through the "Technics Audio Center" app, setting the unit as a speaker for these services.
Chromecast built-in: Streams music files from Chromecast-enabled apps on smartphones, tablets, or other devices, selecting the unit as the output speaker.
Music Streaming Services (Spotify, etc.): Plays music from various streaming services by setting the unit as a speaker.
Streaming Music Files on Network Devices (DMR): Streams music files from devices on the user's network using the "Technics Audio Center" app.
AirPlay: Plays music stored on iOS devices using AirPlay.

The unit features a standby/on switch, volume adjustment controls, a display for input source and other information, and a "Favorite" button to register and recall up to 9 favorite stations or playlists. It also includes a built-in microphone for certain functions.

Usage Features

Installation and Setup: The unit should be placed on a flat, safe surface. For optimal sound effects, the installation location, listening position, and room conditions should be considered. The "Space Tune" function allows for automatic sound quality adjustment based on the installation location (e.g., near a wall or corner). This function is activated by pressing and holding the play/pause button for 5 seconds.

Network Connection: The system can connect to a router via a LAN cable or built-in Wi-Fi®. A wired LAN connection is recommended for stability.

Wired LAN Connection: Requires disconnecting the AC power supply, connecting a LAN cable to a broadband router, and then reconnecting the AC power supply.
Wireless LAN Connection (Wi-Fi®): Can be set up using the "Google Home" app on a smartphone or tablet. The unit will be displayed as "Technics-SC-C50-" (or SC-C30-) if the device name is not set. Network settings can also be configured using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) via a push button or PIN code method.

Chromecast-enabled Apps: To use Chromecast-enabled apps, a network connection must be set up using the "Google Home" app. Once configured, users can start a Chromecast-enabled app on their device, and the input source will automatically switch to "Chromecast built-in" for music playback.

Technics Audio Center App: This dedicated app (free of charge) can be installed on a tablet or smartphone to stream music files from the device on the network, configure sound quality settings, and manage other features. It is also used for playing music from USB devices, internet radio, podcasts, and streaming music files from network devices.

Firmware Updates: Panasonic may release updated firmware to add or improve features. These updates are available free of charge and can be performed via the Internet or USB flash memory.

Factory Reset: All settings can be restored to factory defaults by simultaneously pressing and holding the "DIMMER / -INFO" and play/pause buttons for 5 seconds or longer while the unit is on. The unit will restart automatically.

Disposal/Transfer: Before disposing of or transferring the unit, it is crucial to erase all recorded information by restoring factory defaults and logging out of any music streaming service accounts to prevent unauthorized use.

Maintenance Features

Unit Care:

Before maintenance, pull out the AC power supply cord from the socket.
Clean the unit with a soft cloth.
For heavy dirt, wring a wet cloth tightly to wipe the dirt, then wipe with a soft cloth.
Avoid using solvents such as benzine, thinner, alcohol, kitchen detergent, or chemical wipers, as these can deform the exterior case or cause the coating to come off.

Safety Instructions:

The unit should not be exposed to rain, moisture, dripping, or splashing.
Objects filled with liquids (e.g., vases) should not be placed on the unit.
Only recommended accessories should be used.
Covers should not be removed, and repairs should only be performed by qualified service personnel.
Metal objects should not fall inside the unit, and heavy items should not be placed on it.
The power plug is the disconnecting device; ensure it is easily accessible.
Do not place sources of naked flames (e.g., lighted candles) on the unit.
Maintain separation from mobile telephones to avoid radio interference.
Ensure proper ventilation by not installing the unit in confined spaces or obstructing its openings with items like newspapers or curtains.
Avoid direct sunlight, high temperatures, high humidity, and excessive vibration.
