How to Use the Equipment

Overview

This document outlines the features, usage, and maintenance of the Technogym Selection Leg Curl machine, a strength training equipment designed for leg exercises.

The Leg Curl machine is primarily used for strengthening the muscles in the legs, specifically targeting the hamstrings. Users perform exercises by sitting on the adjustable seat and operating a lever with their legs, which moves a weight stack. The equipment is designed to provide a controlled and effective workout for the lower body.

Usage Features:

The Leg Curl machine offers several adjustable features to accommodate different users and exercise preferences:

  • Seat (A): The user sits on this component to perform the exercise. Its position can be adjusted using a dedicated lever (I) to ensure proper alignment and comfort during the workout.
  • Lever (B): This lever is operated by the user via a roller (C). It allows for the adjustment of the starting position before or between sets, enabling modification of the range of motion.
  • ROM Device (D): This system is crucial for adjusting the Range of Motion and the starting position of the exercise. Adjustments are made by manipulating the ROM lever (E) after releasing it by pressing a button located on the lever. This ensures that users can customize the exercise to their specific needs and flexibility.
  • Weight Stack (F): The lever (B) moves the weights along two guides. A pin (G) is used to select the desired load, allowing users to adjust the exercise effort level. For finer adjustments, a cursor (H) can be used to vary the selected workload by 2.5 kg increments.
  • Side Handgrips (L): These handgrips are provided to enhance user comfort and stability during the exercise, allowing for better focus on muscle engagement.

To begin using the equipment, users should first comfortably access the seat by pushing the button on the ROM lever (A) and moving the lever forward to lower the roller pads. The seat can then be adjusted by lifting the lever (B) located under the handgrip on the left side. Users' knees should rest against the upper roller (C), with the lower roller positioned behind their legs. The lower roller (D) can be adjusted behind the ankles by pulling the end knob (E). Once these adjustments are made, the desired workload is selected with the pin, and the starting position is set by lifting the legs with the help of the ROM lever (A). During the exercise, users are encouraged to use the side handgrips for greater stability.

It is important to maintain a smooth, controlled speed throughout the movement, ensuring that the weight is always under control. Users should avoid allowing the weight plates to touch during the set. At the end of the exercise, the ROM lever button should be pushed, and the lever moved forward to lower the roller pads, allowing for a comfortable exit from the machine.

Maintenance Features:

Routine maintenance is essential to ensure the safety, longevity, and hygienic condition of the Leg Curl machine.

  • Regular Inspections: The safety of the equipment is guaranteed only if it is carefully inspected every two weeks for any signs of damage and/or wear. Any defective or worn components must be replaced immediately, or the equipment should be removed from service until repairs are made.
  • Cleaning: The equipment should always be kept clean and free of dust, especially in a gym setting where multiple users may operate it. Padded parts can be cleaned using a moist cloth or sponge with mild soap. The outer parts of the equipment should be cleaned weekly with a damp sponge. When cleaning, care must be taken not to rub with excessive force on the drawings and instructions displayed on the labels.
  • Lubrication of Weight Stack Guides: To lubricate the weight stack guides, first use a soft cloth to remove any dust and oil residues. Then, slightly moisten the cloth with the oil provided in the optional Basic Box kit. Apply a very thin layer of lubricant over the guides, being careful not to apply too much.
  • Replacing Padded Components: If padded components such as seats, backrests, or rollers show signs of wear, it is advisable to replace them completely for hygiene and comfort. Seats and backrests are replaced by loosening screws on the opposite side of the padding. Rollers are replaced by unscrewing the screw (A) inside the knob on the lower roller and the aluminum covers (B), then sliding off the rollers.
  • Replacing the Cable: Cables must be replaced at the first sign of wear, even if only the outer rubber protection is affected. Monthly inspections of cable condition are recommended. Only cables supplied directly by Technogym should be used. To replace a cable, unscrew the screws (A), back off the lock nut (B), and unscrew the adjuster (C). The old cable is then extracted from the adjuster side, and the new cable is inserted following the original path. Finally, the screws (A) and adjuster (C) are put back, and the lock nut (B) is tightened.
  • Adjusting Cable Tension: Slack in the weight stack cable can be taken up using the adjuster (C) after loosening the lock nut (B). When tightening the screws (A) after cable replacement, it may be helpful to insert a thickness of approximately 10 mm (1/2") under the first weight in the weight stack to pull the cable taut.

For any maintenance actions not explicitly described in this manual, users should contact the Technogym Technical Support Service. When doing so, it is important to provide the equipment model, date of purchase, serial number, and a precise description of the problem. Any operations performed on the equipment by unauthorized personnel will invalidate the warranty.

Installation and Handling:

The equipment is supplied fully assembled, protected by cellophane wrapping, and secured to a pallet. It can be lifted and handled using standard lifting machinery. When moving the equipment, it is necessary to use the optional wheels. The wheels snap onto the feet of the equipment after it has been lifted and are secured by special straps. The equipment should be lifted from the weight stack side using a pallet truck or fork-lift truck, with a wedge placed underneath the frame for safety. Padded material is recommended between the frame and the wedge, and between the frame and the lifting machine. The fixed wheels must always be placed underneath the weight stack. When lifting, avoid exerting pressure against the weight stack guard. When moving, push only from the weight stack side. The wheels are solely for moving the equipment and must be removed before use. The lever for adjusting the range of motion (ROM) should not be used to move the equipment, as this can cause damage and instability.

After positioning the equipment, it must be checked for levelness. This can be achieved by adjusting the screw located underneath the foot (A), indicated by two raised arrows. Due to the weight of the equipment, it is recommended that more than one person be involved in lifting it for adjustment.

Storage and Disposal:

For prolonged periods of non-use, the equipment should be stored in a clean, dry place, covered with a cloth to protect it from dust. The storage environment should maintain a temperature between +10°C and +25°C and a humidity level between 20% and 90%. For optimal storage, the original packing materials should be used.

When disposing of the equipment, it is crucial to ensure it does not pose a hazard, especially to children. The equipment should not be disposed of in the environment or in public or privately accessible areas. The Leg Curl machine is constructed from recyclable materials such as steel, aluminum, and plastic. These materials must be disposed of according to urban refuse collection regulations and handled by specialist environmental firms.
