Overview

The Teltonika FMM130 is an advanced CAT M1/GSM/GNSS/BLE terminal designed for various tracking and telematics applications, offering flexible input configurations. This device serves as a comprehensive solution for monitoring vehicles, assets, and other mobile objects, providing real-time data and control capabilities. Its robust design and versatile features make it suitable for a wide range of industries, from logistics and fleet management to personal vehicle security.

Function Description

The FMM130 operates as a sophisticated tracking device, leveraging multiple communication and positioning technologies. It integrates GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) for precise location tracking, supporting GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, QZSS, and AGPS. This multi-constellation support ensures high accuracy and reliability in various environments. For data transmission, the device utilizes LTE CAT M1/NB-IoT/GSM/GPRS, providing broad network compatibility and efficient data transfer. The inclusion of Bluetooth 4.0 + LE (Low Energy) allows for connectivity with various external sensors and accessories, expanding its functionality beyond basic tracking.

The terminal is equipped with a range of digital and analog inputs, enabling it to monitor various parameters from the vehicle or asset. These inputs can be flexibly configured to detect ignition status, door open/close events, fuel levels, and other critical signals. Digital outputs provide control capabilities, allowing the device to trigger external relays for functions like immobilizer activation or siren control. The 1-Wire interface supports connection to temperature sensors or iButtons, facilitating driver identification or temperature monitoring in refrigerated transport. Additionally, the device supports CAN adapter inputs (LV-CAN200, ALL-CAN300, OBDII dongle, CAN-CONTROL), which allows for reading data directly from the vehicle's CAN bus, providing access to a wealth of information such as engine RPM, fuel consumption, and odometer readings.

The FMM130 comes with an internal Li-Ion backup battery, ensuring continuous operation even if the main power supply is interrupted. This feature is crucial for maintaining tracking capabilities during power outages or tampering attempts. The device also includes an accelerometer, which enables advanced motion detection and crash detection functionalities.

Usage Features

Setting up the FMM130 involves a straightforward process. Users need to insert a Micro-SIM card with PIN request disabled into the designated slot and connect the internal battery. The device can then be powered up using a DC voltage supply (10-30 V). Initial configuration is typically performed via a PC connection, either through a Micro-USB cable or Bluetooth. Teltonika provides a dedicated Configurator software for Windows, which allows users to customize various parameters according to their specific needs. This software requires MS .NET Framework to run.

The Configurator offers a user-friendly interface with multiple tabs displaying information about GNSS, GSM, I/O, and maintenance. Users can load and save configurations to and from the device, update firmware, read records, and reset the device to default settings. Key sections within the Configurator include GPRS settings, where server and data acquisition parameters are defined, and Data Acquisition settings, which control how and when data is collected and transmitted.

For quick setup, the FMM130 supports SMS configuration. Users can send specific SMS commands to the device to set essential parameters like APN, APN username, APN password, server domain, port, and data sending protocol. This feature is particularly useful for remote configuration or initial deployment without direct PC access.

The device supports various scenarios and events, enhancing its utility for different applications. These include:

  • Green Driving: Monitors driving behavior to promote fuel efficiency and safety.
  • Over Speeding detection: Alerts when predefined speed limits are exceeded.
  • GNSS Fuel Counter: Estimates fuel consumption based on GNSS data.
  • DOUT Control Via Call: Allows remote control of digital outputs via a phone call.
  • Excessive Idling detection: Identifies and reports prolonged engine idling.
  • Immobilizer: Enables remote vehicle immobilization.
  • iButton Read Notification: Notifies when an iButton is read, useful for driver identification.
  • Unplug detection: Alerts if the device is disconnected from its power source.
  • Towing detection: Detects unauthorized towing of the vehicle.
  • Crash detection: Identifies and reports vehicle crashes.
  • Auto/Manual Geofence: Allows defining virtual boundaries and generating alerts when the device enters or exits these areas.
  • Trip, Ground Sense: Tracks trip data and ground sense events.

The FMM130 also features different sleep modes (GPS Sleep, Online Deep Sleep, Deep Sleep, Ultra Deep Sleep) to optimize power consumption, extending the device's operational time when not actively tracking.

Maintenance Features

Proper installation and maintenance are crucial for the reliable operation of the FMM130. The manual provides detailed mounting recommendations, emphasizing the importance of secure wiring and proper power source connection. Wires should be fastened to stable parts of the vehicle, kept away from heat-emitting or moving objects, and adequately insulated. The ignition wire must be connected to a real ignition source that provides power only when the ignition is on, not an ACC wire. The ground wire should be securely connected to the vehicle frame or metal parts fixed to the frame. An external 3 A, 125 V fuse is recommended for power protection.

LED indicators on the device provide visual feedback on its status. The Navigation LED indicates GNSS signal reception and working status, while the Status LED shows normal operation, sleep mode, modem activity, or boot mode. These indicators are helpful for quick troubleshooting and verifying device functionality.

Firmware updates can be performed using the Teltonika Configurator software, ensuring the device always runs the latest features and bug fixes. The FMM130 supports FOTA (Firmware Over-The-Air) updates via Web or Bluetooth, allowing for convenient remote maintenance. The FMBT mobile application can also be used for configuration.

Safety information is provided to ensure safe handling and operation. The device should only be connected by qualified personnel and firmly fastened in a predefined location. Programming should be done using a PC with an autonomic power supply. Installation or handling during a lightning storm is prohibited. The device is susceptible to water and humidity, so it should be protected from moisture. The internal battery should be disposed of properly according to instructions, and not with general household waste. Users are advised not to disassemble the device, and if the power supply cables are damaged, the device should be unplugged before handling. All wireless data transferring devices, including the FMM130, may produce interference with other nearby devices.

The FMM130 is designed for durability and reliability, with an ingress protection rating of IP41, meaning it is protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and dripping water. It operates within a wide temperature range (-40 °C to +85 °C without battery) and has specific temperature ranges for battery charging and discharge, ensuring optimal battery life and performance.
