6.5.8 Removing/Replacing the CPU PWB Assembly
The procedure for removing and replacing the CPU PWB Assembly is as follows:
1. Turn off the computer; disconnect the AC power adapter (if attached), and
remove the battery packs as described in Paragraphs 6.5.1 and 6.5.2.
2. Press the Cover Release Latch and open the notebook to a full 180 degree
position.
3. Remove the Keyboard Assembly as described in Paragraph 6.5.6.
4. Remove the Heat Sink Assembly as described in Paragraph 6.5.7.
Caution: Avoid touching the CPU as the CPU pins bend easily.
5. Carefully remove the CPU PWB exercising caution not to damage the CPU
pins.
6. Replace using the reverse of Steps 1 through 5. (Note: When installing a
replacement CPU PWB assembly, add thermal grease to the bottom of the
Heat Sink Assembly where it comes in contact with the CPU).
