Fire Extinguishers
Two portable hand-held re extinguishers are installed in the airplane. One
extinguisher is located in the cockpit beside the copilot’s seat. The other extinguisher
is located in the cabin behind the left-hand aft passenger’s seat and is accessible to all
passengers.
The portable re extinguishers are pressurized bottles containing a Halon Type 1211
extinguishing agent. The bottles have an actuating valve operated by hand and the
extinguishers are rated for Class B and C res.
To operate re extinguisher:
Emergency Locator Transmitter
The emergency locator transmitter (ELT) unit is located in the aft tail cone equipment.
The unit is self-contained and battery powered. An indicator light provides a visual
indication of ELT operation. A switch mounted in the unit and a cockpit switch
provides control of the ELT. The ELT cockpit switch panel is located on the instrument
panel. An inertia switch located within the ELT unit automatically activates the ELT
unit. Should an accident occur, the ELT unit would automatically transmit alert
tones on the international distress frequencies of 121.5, 243 and 406 MHz. These
frequencies are monitored by government monitoring stations, military, CAA, FAA and
Coast Guard aircraft. The unit’s internal battery allows transmission of the emergency
signal for at least 50 hours. A ashing indicator light on the ELT unit adjacent to the
connectors indicates ELT unit operation. In the cockpit, a ashing indicator light and
an aural signal also indicate operation. A reset switch, located in the cockpit, is used
to stop ELT transmissions by electronically resetting the G switch, should the ELT be
inadvertently triggered following a hard landing, sudden stop, or other reason. Refer
to the Maintenance Manual of your aircraft for more information on the ELT.
