Use jack stands and test the stability of the vehicle on

Some servicing operations may require the rear wheels
or the entire vehicle be raised.
Install chocks in front and behind each front wheel (Ref

Raise vehicle and locate a jack stand under the outer

ing it receives regular maintenance. Refer to the Periodic
Service Schedule for appropriate service intervals (Ref
Fig. 43 on page 23). Refer to Lubrication Points (Ref Fig.
22 on page 15) for lubrication locations.
Do not use more than three (3) pumps of
grease in each grease fitting at any one
time. Excess grease may cause grease seals to fail or grease
migration into areas that could damage components.
Some maintenance items must be serviced more
frequently on vehicles used under severe driving
conditions.
POWERTRAIN MAINTENANCE
Access the powertrain by raising or removing seat. Addi-
tional access may be obtained by raising or removing the
load bed.
To prevent severe personal
injury or death, observe the
following:
Always install a positive stop to prevent load bed
from unexpectedly falling.
Wrap wrenches with vinyl tape to prevent the pos-
sibility of a dropped wrench ‘shorting out’ a bat-
tery, which could result in an explosion.
Prevent accidental starting by removing and
grounding spark plug wires and disconnecting
battery at negative terminal before servicing.
Some service procedures may require vehicle be lifted.
