8. CLEANING
THD EVOL UTION
WARNING: Always disconnect the power cable before cleaning.
Never immerse the THD EVOLUTION in water or in a detergent solution, nor autoclave or
gas-sterilise it nor use cleaning and disinfecting methods which might cause moisture to
form inside the unit.
The unit can be deterged with a soft cloth or gauze soaked in an enzymatic substance or an
other EPA registered disinfecting media. Make sure that liquid substances do not drip inside
the unit, while cleaning.
Dry with a soft cloth, clean and dry. Abrasive materials are not to be used.
Follow the same lines to deterge the foot pedal, which does not require sterilisation.
FIBRE-OPTIC CABLE AND DOPPLER PROBE
Wash both with a solution of warm water (55° C) and detergent such as is normally used for
surgical instruments.
The connectors can be cleansed with 90% solution ethanol or isopropyl- alcohol, (avoid wetting
the connectors in water)
Remove any visible contaminant with a soft brush. To disinfect, use a soft cloth soaked in iso-
propyl-alcohoi. Dry carefully before preparing for the sterilisation process. Do not use forced warm ventila
tion to dry.

Make sure that both the fibre-optic cable and the Doppler Probe HAVE BEEN CLEANED
l \ AND STERILISED BEFORE CONNECTING THEM. The connection has to be done safe-

/mportant note:
1) Gluteraldyde can be used for disinfection, where legal, but does not guarantee sterility.
2} Make sure to cover the Doppler transducer pin-connector with the supplied "black rubber
cap" to avoid liquid spilling in the connector.
3) NOT TO BE STERILISED IN AUTOCLAVE OR, ANYWAY AT TEMPERATURES > 70°C
