Overview

The Thermo King V-600 MAX 10/20/30/50 is a series of two-piece truck refrigeration systems designed for medium-sized trucks and vans. These units are intended for transporting fresh, frozen, and deep-frozen products, ensuring temperature-controlled environments during transit.

Function Description:

The V-600 MAX series operates as a refrigeration system with a condenser located either in the front or beneath the truck chassis, and an evaporator mounted on the ceiling of the cargo area. The primary compressor is driven by a belt from the vehicle's engine, connecting to the unit via refrigeration hoses and tubing. For models equipped with electric standby, a second compressor is driven by an electric motor, allowing the unit to operate independently of the vehicle's engine when connected to an external power source.

The unit's control circuits operate on either 12V or 24VDC, supplied by the truck batteries for on-the-road operation. The refrigeration system is safeguarded by a high-pressure transducer and a low-pressure cut-out switch, which monitor and regulate system pressures to prevent damage. Compressor operation is managed by a thermostat that energizes the clutch during engine operation or the compressor contactor during standby.

A key feature is the automatic selection of vehicle engine mode or standby mode. When the unit is plugged into an electric receptacle, vehicle engine operation is automatically blocked. If the truck engine is started while the power cord is still connected, the unit will continue to operate in electric mode, and the vehicle engine-powered compressor will not start until the power cord is unplugged.

Defrosting is achieved through a hot gas solenoid valve, which provides hot gas to the evaporators to melt any accumulated ice. To prevent blockage in the drain tube due to ice accumulation, the R-404A unit evaporators are equipped with two resistance wires inside the drain tube. These wires are permanently connected and energize when the Klixon thermostat closes, ensuring proper drainage.

  • Refrigerant Type: R-404A / R-452A. These refrigerants comply with F-Gas legislation revision 2014 (Regulation (EC) No 517/2014). Users are advised to note their specific refrigerant type (indicated on the unit's label) and avoid cross-contamination.
