MULTISKAN
RC and MS
Errors explained in alphabetic order:
APERTURE PLATE OPERATION FAILED
Reason:
Action:
Service:
Before agglutination measurement the aperture plate is movedover the focusing
lenses by actuating a solenoid. After the measurement the solenoid is relaxed.
In both Eases thechange of signal levels must
be
within predefined limits. If not,
this error is reported.
Check that the focusing lenses and the upper optics are clean.
There should
be
a clearly audible click from the aperture mechanism before and
after the measurement. If not, the instrument needs servicing.
If there isn't any kind of click, the problem is electrical. Check connections
from the solenoid to the MOTCU board and the flat cable connection from
MOTCU to the controller board MUSCU-RC. Also check the +21V voltage
from the power supply. The solenoid actuating signal originates from pin 62 of
IC
Dl
on MUSCU-RC board. It is active low and goes to pin 17 of buffer
Dl
on MOTCU board. From pin 16 of the buffer the signal continues through
resistor R4 to pin 7 of switchmode constant current driver N3. The solenoid is
connected to the output of N3, pins
1
and
15.
A low level on pin
7
enables the
output, a highlevel disables it. The operation of N3 can
be
tested by connecting
input pin 7 to pin
4
which should enable the output or to pin 6 which should
disable the output.
If there is a click from the mechanism, a mechanical vroblem is vossible.
Remove the measuring assembly cover. Push the aperture plate manually over
the focusing lenses. It should move there smoothly with little force and stor, so
that the pinholes are above the center of the lenses. Slight error in the knd
.
-
position may be due to incorrect aperture plate assembly fixing position and can
be
corrected by loosening the two retaining screws and moving the assembly
to required direction.
If the manual test is okay, switch on the instrument and observe the aperture
plate. During the powerup sequence the plate should move to the same position
as manually.
If the aperture plate does not move to the correct position, the whole track plate
has to be removed for aperture plate assembly inspection.
