The TIC B series is a line of outdoor omnidirectional in-ground/surface-mount speakers designed for both residential and commercial audio installations. These passive loudspeakers are engineered to provide a robust and dependable sound solution that can be easily upgraded and customized over time. The series includes several models: B03, B13, B06, B16, and B50, each with specific characteristics to suit various audio system designs.
The primary function of the TIC B series speakers is to deliver high-quality audio in outdoor environments. Their omnidirectional design ensures sound is dispersed evenly across a wide area, making them suitable for gardens, patios, and other open spaces. The speakers can be installed either in-ground, which enhances resonance for a fuller audio experience, or surface-mounted, offering flexibility in placement. The B series includes full-range coaxial speakers (B03, B13, B06, B16) and a dedicated subwoofer (B50) to provide a comprehensive sound system solution.
The B13 and B16 models offer both standard 8Ω mode and 70V mode. The 70V constant voltage system is particularly beneficial for larger installations, such as commercial projects and PA systems, as it minimizes power loss over long wire runs and simplifies installation with multiple loudspeakers. When operating in 70V mode, a 70V amplifier is required. The speaker's dial should be set to one of the wattage settings, and the amplifier's power output should be at least 20% greater than the sum of all speaker wattage settings in the system to ensure optimal performance and longevity. For regular amplifiers, the dial should be set to 8Ω.
The B series speakers can be installed in-ground or surface-mounted. In-ground installation is recommended for enhanced resonance and a fuller audio experience. When burying the speaker, it's crucial to keep the open part and a small section of the bottom free from soil. For surface mounting, ensure wiring is safely secured to prevent tripping hazards.
The manual provides various wiring diagrams to accommodate different system designs:
For in-ground installations, only burial-grade insulated speaker wires should be used. Alternatively, conduit can be used with standard speaker wires. Wires/conduit should be buried 10-15 cm underground. For connecting or extending speaker wires, waterproof wire connectors (e.g., SPC-CN1) are highly recommended. As an alternative, silicon can be applied to the opening of standard wire nuts for water protection. In typical installations, positive terminals are connected to red wires, and negative terminals to black wires.
Proper amplifier matching is crucial for optimal performance and longevity. Audio professionals often recommend an amplifier with an output power slightly above the loudspeaker's power handling rating to handle audio peaks and provide a fuller dynamic range. However, caution is advised to prevent damage during sustained loud play. For longevity and safe operation, an amplifier with an RMS power rating at or slightly below the loudspeaker's rating is recommended. Incorrect impedance matching can cause irreparable harm to audio equipment.
The B series speakers are designed to be water-resistant, but not fully waterproof. They are not intended for total water submersion, such as during heavy flooding. Their raised, downward-facing profile helps protect them from normal rain and snow conditions. Users should exercise caution and consider relocating speakers if there's a risk of heavy floods or snowfall.
To clean the speaker, it can be rinsed with fresh water directly from above and wiped with a cloth. Mild detergent can be used if needed to remove dirt.
It is highly recommended to fully test the entire audio system above ground before burying speakers and wires to ensure proper functionality.
If the sound is muddled or multiple speakers are not in sync, users should check to ensure wire polarity is correct.
