Maintenance
Follow the maintenance schedule pre-
sented on page 70. Keep in mind that this
schedule is based on the assumption that
the outboard motor will only be used for
its intended purpose. Operation under
sustained high loads or other unusual
conditions will require more frequent
service.

This outboard motor is labeled with the
California Air Resources Board (CARB)
star label. A description of this label is
presented below.

One Star-Low Emission
One Star- Low emission The one-star
label identifies engines that meet the Air
Resources Board’s Personal Watercraft
and Outboard marine engine 2001
exhaust emission standards.
Engines meeting these standards have
75% lower emissions than conventional
carbureted two-stroke engines.
These engines are equivalent to the U.S.
EPAs 2006 standards for marine engines.

Two Stars-Very Low Emission
The two-star label identifies engines that
meet the Air Resources Board’s Personal
Watercraft and Outboard marine engine
2004 exhaust emission standards.
Engines meeting these standards have
20% lower emissions than One Star-Low
Emission engines.

Three Stars-Ultra Low Emission
The three-star label identifies engines
that meet the Air Resources Boards Per-
sonal
Watercraft and Outboard marine engine
2008 exhaust emission standards or the
Star label
