1.Ensurethatthefueltankcontainslittleornofuelso
thatfueldoesnotleakoutwhenyoutipthemower
ontoitsside.
2.Runtheengineafewminutesbeforechangingthe
oiltowarmit.
Note:Warmoilowsbetterandcarriesmore
contaminants.
3.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug.Referto
PreparingforMaintenance.
4.Removethedipstick.
5.Tipthemowerontoitsside,withthedipstickdown,
todraintheusedoiloutthroughtheoillltube
(Figure19).

6.Returnthemowertotheoperatingposition.
7.Slowlypouroilintotheoilllhole,wait3minutes,
andchecktheoillevelonthedipstickbywipingthe
dipstickcleanandtheninserting,butnotscrewing
in,theoilllcapintothehole.

orSAE10W-30detergentoilwithanAPIservice
classicationofSF,SG,SH,SJ,SL,orhigher.

2.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug.
3.Cleanaroundthesparkplug.
4.Removethesparkplugfromthecylinderhead.
Important:Replaceacracked,fouled,or
dirtysparkplug.Donotcleantheelectrodes
becausegritenteringthecylindercandamage
theengine.
5.Setthegapontheplugto0.030inch(0.76mm)
