Checkthebeltsforsquealingwhenthebeltisrotating,
bladesslippingwhencuttinggrass,frayedbeltedges,
burnmarksandcracksaresignsofawornmowerbelt.
Replacethemowerbeltifanyoftheseconditionsare
evident.
ReplacingtheMowerBeltfor
60inMowerDecks
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrollevers
totheneutrallockedpositionandsettheparking
brake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Removethebeltcovers(Figure54).
4.Removethespringandbeltguidefromtheidlerarm.
5.Removetheexistingbeltifneeded.
6.Installthenewbeltaroundthemowerpulleysand
thegearboxpulleyundertheengine(Figure55).
7.Installspringtotheidlerarm(Figure55).
8.Installthebeltguideonthespringloadedidlerata
45degreeangleasshowninFigure55.
9.Installthebeltcoversbyslidingthecoverintothe
tab,installthebolts,andclosethelatches(Figure54).
