operatingconditionsareextremelydustyorsandy.
RemovingtheFilters
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotioncontrollevers
totheneutrallockedpositionandsettheparking
brake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Tilttheseatforwardandremovethefrontengine
panel(Figure39).

4.Releasethelatchesontheaircleanerandpulltheair
cleanercoveroffoftheaircleanerbody(Figure40).
5.Cleantheinsideoftheaircleanercoverwith
compressedair.
6.Gentlyslidetheprimarylteroutoftheaircleaner
body(Figure40).Avoidknockingthelterintothe
sideofthebody.
7.Removethesafetylteronlyifyouintendtoreplace
it.
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesafety
lter.Ifthesafetylterisdirty,thentheprimary
lterisdamagedandyoushouldreplaceboth
lters.
8.Inspecttheprimarylterfordamagebylookinginto
thelterwhileshiningabrightlightontheoutside
ofthelter.Holesinthelterwillappearasbright
spots.Ifthelterisdamageddiscardit.

1.Donotcleanthepaperlter,replaceit(Figure40).
2.Inspecttheelementfortears,anoilylm,ordamage
totherubberseal.
3.Replacethepaperelementifitisdamaged.
ServicingtheSafetyFilter
ServiceInterval:Every600hours
Donotcleanthesafetylter,replaceit.
Important:Neverattempttocleanthesafetylter.
Ifthesafetylterisdirty,thentheprimarylteris
damagedandyoushouldreplacebothlters.
InstallingtheFilters
Important:Topreventenginedamage,always
operatetheenginewithbothairltersandcover
installed.
1.Ifinstallingnewlters,checkeachlterforshipping
damage.Donotuseadamagedlter.
2.Ifthesafetylterisbeingreplaced,carefullyslideit
intothelterbody(Figure40).
3.Carefullyslidetheprimarylteroverthesafetylter
(Figure40).Ensurethatitisfullyseatedbypushing
ontheouterrimofthelterwhileinstallingit.
