CleaningtheEngineScreen
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Cleanthe
engineairintakescreen.
Toensurepropercooling,makesurethegrassscreen,
coolingns,andotherexternalsurfacesoftheengine
arekeptcleanatalltimes.
Useadrybrushtocleangrassandaccumulateddebris
fromtheairintakescreenandaroundtheengine.
Important:Topreventcontaminatingthefuel
system,donotusewatertocleantheengine.
CleaningtheEngineCooling
FinsandShrouds
ServiceInterval:Every100hours—Cleantheengine
coolingnsandshrouds.
1.Disengagethebladecontrolswitchandmovethe
controlleverstotheneutrallockedpositionand
applytheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Removetheairintakescreenandcoolingshrouds.
4.Cleanthedebrisandgrassfromtheengineparts.
5.Installtheairintakescreenandcoolingshrouds.
MowerMaintenance
ServicingtheCuttingBlades
Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseason
becausesharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassblades.Tearingandshreddingturns
grassbrownattheedges,whichslowsgrowthand
increasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthecutterbladesdailyforsharpness,andforany
wearordamage.Filedownanynicksandsharpenthe
bladesasnecessary.Ifabladeisdamagedorworn,
replaceitimmediatelywithagenuineTororeplacement
blade.Forconvenientsharpeningandreplacement,you
maywanttokeepextrabladesonhand.
WARNING
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,andapiece
ofthebladecouldbethrownintotheoperator's
orbystander'sarea,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
BeforeInspectingorServicingthe
Blades
Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengagetheblade
controlswitch,andmovethemotioncontrollevers
outwardtotheparkposition.Stoptheengineand
removethekey.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkthe
cuttingblades.
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure40).Iftheedges
arenotsharporhavenicks,removeandsharpenthe
blades;refertoSharpeningtheBlades.
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea
(Figure40).Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,or
aslotforminginthisarea(item3inFigure40),
immediatelyinstallanewblade.
