ServiceInterval:Aftertherst100hours
Every500hoursthereafter
Checktomakesurebrakeisadjustedproperly.Thisprocedure
mustbefollowedaftertherst100hoursorwhenabrake
componenthasbeenremovedorreplaced.
1.Drivethemachineontoalevelsurface.
2.Disengagethebladecontrolswitch(PTO),movethe
motioncontrolleverstotheneutrallockedposition
andsettheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengine,waitforallmovingpartstostop,and
removethekey.
4.Raisethebackofthemachineupandsupportthe
machinewithjackstands.
DANGER
Mechanicalorhydraulicjacksmayfailto
supportmachineandcauseaseriousinjury.
Usejackstandwhensupportingmachine.
Donotusehydraulicjacks.
5.Removethereartiresfromthemachine.
6.Removeanydebrisfromthebrakearea.
7.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletothereleased
position.RefertotheUsingtheDriveWheel
ReleaseValvessectioninOperation.
8.Measuretheoveralllengthofthecompressionspring.
Thecorrectlengthshouldbebetween1-1/2and
1-9/16inches(3.8and4.0cm).Ifthespringlengthis
withinthisrange,noadjustmentisneeded.Ifitisnot,
proceedtostep9.
9.Holdthethreadedrodendwithatoolandadjust
thelocknutuntilthespringlengthisbetween1-1/2
and1-9/16inches(3.8and4.0cm)(Figure76).Do
Notallowthecabletoturnwhenthenutsarebeing
loosened.

10.Disengagetheparkbrake.Turnthewheelhubbyhand
inbothdirectionsrelativetothecaliper;nodragofthe
caliperpadonthewheelhubisdesired.
11.Ifthereisnomovementbetweenthehubandthe
caliperthenrepeattheadjustment(drivereleasevalves
mustbeinthereleasedpositiononthehydros).
12.Afteradjustingthebrakesonbothsidesofthemower,
cyclethebrakehandleaminimumofsixtimestoallow
thecabletoseatintothesheathandmountingtabs.
13.Recheckthespringlength;engagetheparkbrakeand
repeatsteps8through11ifthelengthisnotinthe
correctrange.
14.Rotatethedrivewheelreleasehandletotheoperating
position.RefertotheUsingtheDriveWheel
ReleaseValvessectioninOperation.
15.Installthereartiresandtorquelugnutsbetween90and
95ft-lb(122and129N-m).
16.Removejackstands.
