Adjustingthe
Motion-ControlLinkage
Locatedoneithersideofthemachine,belowtheseat,
arethepump-controllinkages.Rotatingtheendnut
witha1/2-inchdeepsocketwrenchallowsnetuning
adjustmentssothatthemachinedoesnotmovein
neutral.Anyadjustmentsshouldbemadeforneutral
positioningonly.
WARNING
Theenginemustberunningandthedrive
wheelsturningsothatyoucanperformthe
adjustments.Contactwithmovingpartsor
hotsurfacesmaycausepersonalinjury.
Keepyourngers,hands,andclothingclear
ofrotatingcomponentsandhotsurfaces.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch(PTO),andengagethe
parkingbrake.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Pushthedeck-liftpedal,andremovethe
height-of-cutpin.
4.Lowerdecktotheground.
5.Raisetherearofmachineupandsupportitwith
jackstands(orequivalentsupport).
Note:Raisethemachinejusthighenoughto
allowthedrivewheelstoturnfreely.
6.Removetheelectricalconnectionfromtheseat
safetyswitch,locatedunderthebottomcushion
oftheseat.
Note:Theswitchisapartoftheseatassembly.
7.Temporarilyinstallajumperwireacrossthe
terminalsintheconnectorofthemainwire
harness.
8.Starttheengineandrunitatfullthrottleand
disengagethebrake.
Note:Beforestartingtheengine,ensurethat
theparkingbrakeisengagedandthatthe
motion-controlleversareout.Youdonothave
tobeintheseat.
9.Runthemachineforatleast5minuteswiththe
driveleversatfullforwardspeedtobringthe
hydraulicuiduptotheoperatingtemperature.
Note:Themotion-controlleversmust
beinneutralwhilemakinganynecessary
adjustments.
10.Bringthemotion-controlleversintotheNEUTRAL
position.
11.Adjustthepumpcontrolrodlengthsbyrotating
thedoublenutsontherodintheappropriate
directionuntilthewheelsslightlycreepin
reverse(Figure98).
