•Mowthegreensinastraightback-and-forth
directionacrossthegreen.
•Avoidcircularmowingorturningthemachineon
thegreensareastopreventscufng.
•Turnthemachineoffthegreenbyraisingthe
cuttingreel(pushingthehandledown)andturning
onthetractiondrum.
•Mowatanormalwalkingpace.Fastspeedssaves
littletimeandresultsinaninferiormowingjob.
•Toassistinmaintainingastraightlineacross
thegreenandtokeepthemachineanequal
distancefromtheedgeofthepreviouscut,usethe
alignmentstripesonthebasket(Figure20).

Mowing
Properuseofthemachineprovidesthesmoothestturf
cuttingavailable.ReferalsotoOperatingTips(page
21)forfundamentalsuggestionstoobtaintheutmost
performancefromyourmachine.
Important:Excessiveoperationofthecutting
unitwiththeabsenceofgrassclippings(lubricant)
candamagethecuttingunit.
1.Starttheengine,setthethrottleatareduced
speed,pushdownonthehandletoraisethe
cuttingunit,movethetractionlevertothe
ENGAGEDposition,andtransportthemachine
ontothecollarofthegreen.
2.MovethetractionlevertotheDISENGAGED
positionandmovethereel-drivelevertothe
ENGAGEDposition.
3.MovethetractionlevertotheENGAGEDposition,
increasethethrottlespeeduntilthemachineis
travelingatthedesiredgroundspeed,drivethe
machineontothegreen,lowerthefrontofthe
machine,andcommenceoperation.
4.Whenyouarenishedmowing,driveoffthe
green,movethetraction-controllevertothe
DISENGAGEDposition,shutofftheengine,and
pushthereel-driveleverintotheDISENGAGED
position.
5.Emptythegrassbasketofclippings,installthe
grassbasket,andcommencethetransport
operation.
OperatingtheControlsafter
Mowing
1.Driveoffthegreen,movethereeldriveand
tractioncontrolleverstotheDISENGAGED
position,andshutofftheengine.
2.Emptythegrassbasketofclippings,installthe
grassbasketonthemower,andtransportthe
machinetostorage.
