WARNING
Whileyouaremaintainingoradjustingthe
machine,someonecouldstarttheengine.
Accidentallystartingtheenginecould
seriouslyinjureyouorotherbystanders.
Shutofftheengine,engagetheparkingbrake,
andpullthewire(s)offthesparkplug(s)
beforeyoudoanymaintenance.Alsopush
thewire(s)asidesoitdoesnotaccidentally
contactthesparkplug(s).
Performthefollowingbeforeservicing,cleaning,or
makinganyadjustmentstothemachine.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Shutofftheengineandremovethekeyfromthe
machine(ifequipped).
3.Engagetheparkingbrake.
4.Waitforallmovingpartstostopallowtheengine
tocoolbeforeservicing,storing,ormaking
repairs.
5.Disconnectthespark-plugwire(Figure21).

usingNo.2lithiumgrease.Forbestresults,usea
hand-operatedgreasegun.
Thegreasettinglocationsareasfollows:
•2onthefrontroller(Figure22)
•2onthereelbearings(Figure22)
•2onthedrumaxles(Figure23)
•3onthedifferential(Figure23)
•2onthereelcountershaftbearings(Figure24)
•1onthebeltidlerpivots(Figure25).
1.Wipeeachgreasettingwithacleanrag.
2.Pumpgreaseintoeachtting.
Important:Donotapplytoomuchpressure
orthegreasesealsmaybecomepermanently
damaged.
3.Wipeoffanyexcessgrease.
