moveittowardtheSLOWpositiontodecreasethe
enginespeed.
Note:Youcannotshutofftheengineusingthe
throttlelever.

Tostartacoldengine,closethecarburetorchoke
bypushingthechokeleverforward(Figure13)to
theCLOSEDposition.Aftertheenginestarts,regulate
thechokelevertokeeptheenginerunningsmoothly.
Assoonaspossible,openthechokebypullingthe
leverrearwardtotheOPENposition.Awarmengine
requireslittleornochoking.
Raise/LowerMowControl
Movingthecontrol(Figure13)forwardduringcutting
operationlowersthecuttingunitsandstartsthereels.
Pullbackonthecontroltostopthereelsandraise
thecuttingunits.Tostopthereelswithoutraisingthe
cuttingunits,pullbackonthecontrolmomentarily
andreleasingit.Startthereelsbymovingthecontrol
forward.
FunctionalControlLever
Thefunctionalcontrollever(Figure13)provides2
tractionselectionsplusaNEUTRALposition.Youcan
shiftfrommowtotransportortransporttomow(not
toneutral)whilethemachineisinmotion;nodamage
willresult.

•FRONTposition—usewhendrivingthemachine

IgnitionSwitch
Insertthekeyintotheswitch(Figure13)andturnit
clockwisetotheSTARTpositiontostarttheengine.
Releasethekeyassoonastheenginestarts;
thekeymovestotheONposition.Turnthekey
counterclockwisetotheSTOPpositiontoshutoffthe
engine.
ParkingBrakeLever
Pullthebrakelever(Figure14)toengagetheparking
brake.Disengageitbysqueezingthereleaselever
ontheundersideofthebrakeleverandloweringit
tothereleasedposition.Engagetheparkingbrake
wheneveryouleavethemachine.
