StorageSafety
•Shutoffthemachine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovementtostopbeforeyouleavethe
operator’sposition.Allowthemachinetocool
beforeadjusting,servicing,cleaning,orstoringit.
•Donotstorethemachineorfuelcontainerwhere
thereisanopename,spark,orpilotlight,such
asonawaterheaterorotherappliance.
PreparingtheMachinefor
Storage
1.Alwaysshutofftheengine,removethekey(if
equipped),waitforallmovingpartstostop,
andallowthemachinetocoolbeforeadjusting,
cleaning,storing,orrepairingthemachine.
2.Removeaccumulationsofdirtandoldgrass
clippings.Sharpenthereelsandbedknives,if
necessary;refertothecuttingunitOperator's
Manual.Coatthebedknivesandreelblades
witharustpreventive.Oilalllubricationpoints.
3.Raiseandsupportthemachinetoremoveits
weightfromthetires.
4.Replacethehydraulicuidandlter.Inspect
thehydrauliclinesandttings,andreplace
damagedorwornpartsasneeded.Referto
ChangingtheHydraulicFluidandFilter(page
43),CheckingtheHydraulicLinesandHoses
(page43),andCheckingtheHydraulic-Fluid
Level(page42).
5.Allfuelshouldberemovedfromthefueltank.
Runtheengineuntilitshutsoff.Replacethefuel
lter;refertoReplacingtheFuelFilter(page35).
6.Whiletheengineisstillwarm,draintheoilfrom
thecrankcase.Rellitwithfreshoil;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandFilter(page34).
7.Removethesparkplugs,pour30ml(1oz)of
SAE30oilintothecylinders,andcrankslowlyto
distributetheoil.Replacethesparkplugs;refer
toReplacingtheSparkPlugs(page35).
8.Cleandirtandchafffromthecylinder,cylinder
headns,andblowerhousing.
9.Removethebatteryandchargeitfully;referto
ChargingtheBattery(page37).Eitherstoreit
ontheshelforonthemachine.Leavethecables
disconnectedifitisstoredonthemachine.
Storethebatteryinacoolatmospheretoavoid
quickdeteriorationofthechargeinthebattery.
