bypushingthechokeleverforward(Figure16)to
theCLOSEDposition.Aftertheenginestarts,regulate
thechokelevertokeeptheenginerunningsmoothly.
Assoonaspossible,openthechokebypullingthe
leverrearwardtotheOPENposition.Awarmengine
requireslittleornochoking.
Raise/LowerMowControl
Movingthecontrol(Figure16)forwardduringcutting
operationlowersthecuttingunitsandstartsthereels.
Pullbackonthecontroltostopthereelsandraise
thecuttingunits.Tostopthereelswithoutraisingthe
cuttingunits,pullbackonthecontrolmomentarily
andreleasingit.Startthereelsbymovingthecontrol
forward.
FunctionalControlLever
Thefunctionalcontrollever(Figure16)provides2
tractionselectionsplusaNEUTRALposition.Youcan
shiftfrommowtotransportortransporttomow(not
toneutral)whilethemachineisinmotion;nodamage
willresult.

backlappingthereels
•MIDDLEposition—usewhencuttinggrass
•FRONTposition—usewhendrivingthemachine
betweenjobsites
IgnitionSwitch
Insertthekeyintotheswitch(Figure16)andturnit
clockwisetotheSTARTpositiontostarttheengine.
Releasethekeyassoonastheenginestarts;
thekeymovestotheONposition.Turnthekey
counterclockwisetotheSTOPpositiontoshutoffthe
engine.
Engine-OilPressureLight
Thelight(Figure16)glowsiftheengine-oilpressure
dropsbelowasafelevel.
Service-IndicatorLight
Theservice-indicatorlight(Figure16)illuminates
whenthemachinesensorsdetectanissuewith1of
thesystemsofthemachine.Ifthislightilluminates,
stopwhatyouaredoinganddrivetoasafelocation
whereyouoraservicetechniciancandiagnose
theproblem.Formoreinformationondiagnosing
systemissuesusingtheservice-indicatorlight,refer
toDiagnosingtheService-IndicatorLight(page45).
Leak-IndicatorLight
Thislightilluminatesandanalarmsoundsifthe
hydraulicuidleveldropsinthehydraulicreservoir;
refertoOperatingtheLeakDetector(page40)and
CheckingtheHydraulic-FluidLevel(page36).
