Overview

The Toro Pro Force Debris Blower, Model No. 44542 (Serial No. 312000110 and Up), is a commercial-grade, tow-behind machine designed for professional operators to quickly clear large areas of unwanted debris using wind power. It is primarily intended for use on well-maintained lawns in parks, golf courses, sports fields, and commercial grounds.

Function Description:

The debris blower operates by generating a powerful stream of air to move leaves, grass clippings, and other debris. It is towed by a ride-on machine and features a remote control for convenient operation. The nozzle direction can be adjusted from right to left, allowing operators to direct the airflow precisely. The engine speed can also be controlled remotely, offering flexibility for different debris clearing tasks.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Fuel Type: Unleaded regular gasoline (85 pump octane minimum). Leaded regular gasoline may be used if unleaded regular is unavailable.
  • Fuel Tank Capacity: 5 gallons (18.9 L).
  • Engine Oil Type: Detergent oil (API service SG, SH, SJ or higher).
  • Crankcase Capacity (w/filter): 67 ounces (2 L).
  • Spark Plugs: Champion® RC12YC, Champion® Platinum 3071 or equivalent.
  • Spark Plug Air Gap: 0.030 inch (0.76 mm).
  • Tire Pressure: 14 psi (96.5 kPa).
  • Wheel Lug Nut Torque: 45-65 ft-lb (5.1-7.3 N-m).
  • Nozzle Clamp Torque: 45-50 in-lb (5.1-5.7 N-m).
  • Belt Tension (Pulley Mounting Bracket Torque): 200 to 230 in-lb (22.6 to 26.0 N-m).
  • Electrical System Fuse: 15 amp in-line fuse.
  • Noise Levels: May exceed 85 dB(A) at the operator position, requiring hearing protection for prolonged exposure.
  • Compliance: Complies with FCC rules Part 15 and Canadian ICES-002.

Usage Features:

  • Remote Control Operation: The blower is equipped with a remote control that allows the operator to:
    • Start and stop the engine.
    • Adjust engine speed (Fast/Slow).
    • Rotate the nozzle direction (Right/Left).
  • Hour Meter: Tracks the total hours of machine operation, useful for maintenance scheduling.
  • Ignition Switch: Three positions: OFF, RUN, and START. The key automatically returns to ON after starting.
  • Choke Control: Used for starting a cold engine.
  • Controller Time-Out Feature: The control module enters a time-out mode after 2.5 hours of continuous remote transmitter inactivity, preventing accidental operation and conserving battery. To reactivate, turn the key switch OFF, then momentarily to START.
  • Hitch System: Designed to be towed by a vehicle, with adjustable hitch height and length to prevent contact with the tow vehicle during turns.
  • Safety Features: Includes safety alert symbols and warnings for potential hazards such as thrown objects, moving parts, flammable fuels, and tip-over risks. Operators are advised to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection).

Maintenance Features:

  • Recommended Maintenance Schedule: A detailed schedule is provided, including daily, every 8 hours, every 10 hours, every 25 hours, every 50 hours, every 100 hours, every 200 hours, and every 500 hours intervals.
  • Daily Checklist: A printable checklist for routine inspections, including instrument operation, fuel level, engine oil level, cooling fins, air filter pre-cleaner, engine noises, fluid leaks, tire pressure, nozzle clamp torque, and paint touch-up.
  • Air Cleaner Service: Involves cleaning the foam pre-filter every 25 hours and replacing the paper element every 100 hours. More frequent service is recommended in dusty conditions.
  • Carbon Canister Filter Service: Replacement of the carbon canister air filter and purge-line filter every 200 hours, or more frequently in dusty/sandy conditions.
  • Engine Oil Service: Checking the oil level daily and changing the engine oil and oil filter every 100 and 200 hours, respectively.
  • Spark Plug Service: Checking spark plugs every 200 hours, including inspecting for wear, oily film, or cracks, and verifying the air gap.
  • Fuel Filter Replacement: Recommended every 500 hours.
  • Engine Screen and Oil Cooler Cleaning: Daily cleaning to remove debris and ensure proper cooling.
  • Belt Adjustment: Checking condition and tension of the belt every 8 and 50 hours, with adjustment if the nozzle direction change slips.
  • Electrical Maintenance: Includes a 15 amp in-line fuse and a fusible link. Instructions for synchronizing the remote transmitter/control module are provided if either component is replaced.
  • Storage Procedures: Detailed steps for preparing the machine for non-use periods over 30 days, including fuel stabilization, engine oil changes, battery charging, and general cleaning. Proper disposal of waste materials (engine oil, batteries) is emphasized.
  • Warranty: Covered by The Toro Total Coverage Guarantee, a limited warranty for two years or 1500 operational hours, whichever occurs first, covering defects in materials or workmanship. Regular maintenance is an owner's responsibility to maintain warranty validity.
