What to do if the LED indicator light on the battery charger of my Toro Lawn Mower is blinking red?
    • D
      Dr. Heidi BrownSep 2, 2025
If the LED indicator light on the battery charger is blinking red, there may be an error in communication between the battery and the charger, or the battery pack may be weak. Try removing the battery, unplugging the charger for 10 seconds, then plugging it back in and reinserting the battery. If the light continues to blink red, repeat the procedure. If that doesn't work, the battery pack may be weak and should be properly disposed of at a battery recycling facility.

Why is my Toro Recycler 21467 beeping?
    • E
      Eric WintersSep 5, 2025
If your Toro Lawn Mower is producing a beeping sound, it could be due to several reasons. The battery pack may not be charged, so remove it and charge it. The machine might be in an unsafe position, so ensure it's not at an extreme angle. It could also be overloaded, so try cutting the grass at a higher setting or walking slower. If none of these solutions work, there may be an electrical problem. Try the other troubleshooting steps, and if the beeping continues, contact an Authorized Service Dealer.

This document is an operator's manual for the Toro Flex-Force Power System™ 60V MAX 21in Recycler® Lawn Mower. It covers Model No. 21467 and 21467T, with serial numbers 400000000 and Up.

Function Description:

This rotary-blade, walk-behind lawn mower is intended for use by residential homeowners. Its primary function is cutting grass on well-maintained lawns on residential properties. It is designed to use Toro 60V lithium-ion battery packs, which are to be charged only by Toro 60V lithium-ion battery chargers. The mower is not designed for cutting brush or for agricultural uses. Model 21467T does not include a battery or a charger.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Battery Pack (Model 88660):
    • Battery pack capacity: 6.0 Ah
    • Energy: 324 Wh
    • Battery manufacturer rating: 60V maximum and 54V nominal (actual voltage varies with load).
  • Battery Charger (Model 88602):
    • Type: 60V MAX Lithium-Ion Battery Charger
    • Input: 120V AC ~2.0A, 60Hz
    • Output: 60V DC 2.0A MAX
  • Appropriate Temperature Ranges:
    • Charge/store battery pack: 5°C (41°F) to 40°C (104°F)
    • Use battery pack: -30°C (-22°F) to 49°C (120°F)
    • Use machine: 0°C (32°F) to 49°C (120°F)
  • Cutting Height: Adjustable from 25 mm (1 inch) to 102 mm (4 inches).
  • Blade Bolt Torque: 68 N·m (50 ft-lb).

Usage Features:

  • Safety-Alert Symbol: The manual prominently features a safety-alert symbol to highlight important safety messages, categorized as DANGER, WARNING, or CAUTION.
  • Pre-Operation Checks: Users are instructed to read all instructions, keep bystanders away, ensure all guards and safety devices are in place, inspect the area for objects, check the blade assembly for wear/damage, and use only Toro-specified battery packs and chargers.
  • Battery Installation: The battery pack is installed by opening the battery-compartment lid, aligning the cavity with the tongue on the machine, sliding the pack into place until it locks, and then closing the lid.
  • Starting the Machine: Requires inserting the electric-start button, squeezing the blade-control bar to the handle, and pressing the electric-start button until the motor starts.
  • Self-Propel Drive: The machine automatically keeps pace with the user when walking with hands on the upper handle. If the machine does not roll backward freely, users can push it forward slightly to disengage the wheel drive.
  • Recycling Clippings: The machine is factory-ready for recycling grass and leaf clippings.
  • Bagging Clippings: A grass bag can be installed by raising the rear deflector, placing the bag pins in the handle notches, and lowering the deflector.
  • Bag-on-Demand Lever: This feature allows switching between collecting and recycling clippings while the grass bag is attached. Pressing the button and moving the lever forward engages bagging, while moving it rearward engages recycling.
  • Adjustable Cutting Height: The cutting height can be adjusted, with all wheels needing to be set to the same height.
  • General Mowing Tips: Advice includes avoiding solid objects, installing a new blade for best performance, cutting about a third of the grass blade at a time, avoiding cutting below 51 mm (2 inches) unless grass is sparse or in late fall, mowing tall grass at higher settings first, avoiding wet conditions, being aware of fire hazards in dry conditions, and alternating mowing direction for even fertilization.
  • Cutting Leaves: Tips include ensuring half of the lawn shows through the cut leaf cover, mowing at higher settings for thick leaf layers, and slowing down mowing speed for finer cuts.
  • Battery Charge Indicator: The battery pack has a button to display the current charge via LED indicators.
  • Battery Charger LED Indicator: The charger has an LED light to indicate charging status (green blinking for charging, solid green for fully charged, red for temperature range issues, red blinking for charging fault).

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning Under the Machine: Recommended after each use. Involves moving the machine to a flat paved surface, removing the electric-start button and battery, washing out clippings from under the rear door, and running the motor for a few minutes to dry the underside.
  • Vertical-Stow Position: The machine can be stored vertically to minimize space, requiring the cutting height to be 92 mm (3-5/8 inches) or lower, disengaging handle locks, folding the handle forward, engaging locks, and lifting the front of the machine.
  • Lubrication: The machine does not require lubrication as all bearings are factory-lubricated for life.
  • Blade Replacement: Recommended yearly. Requires a torque wrench for proper installation. Instructions include holding the blade steady with a block of wood, removing the old blade, installing the new blade with curved ends facing up, and tightening the blade bolt to 68 N·m (50 ft-lb).
  • Self-Propel Drive Adjustment: If a new self-propel cable is installed or the drive is out of adjustment, the cable tension can be adjusted by loosening a nut, pulling/pushing the cable to increase/decrease traction, and then tightening the nut.
  • Battery Pack Recycling: Upon removal, terminals should be covered with heavy-duty adhesive tape. Lithium-ion battery packs with the Call2Recycle seal can be recycled at participating facilities.
  • Storage: The machine, battery pack, and charger should be stored in a dry, secure place within appropriate temperature ranges, out of reach of children, and away from corrosive agents. For off-season storage, the battery pack should be charged until 2 or 3 LED indicators turn green. The battery pack should not be stored fully charged or fully depleted for long periods.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: Provides solutions for common issues such as the machine not starting, not running continuously, not reaching full power, battery losing charge quickly, battery charger not working, and the machine producing a beeping sound or vibrating.
