Ifthepulleycoversonyourmowerdeckaresecuredwithascrew,followthisprocedureforreplacingthe
mowerbelt.
ReplacingtheMowerBelt
Thesignsofawornbeltincludesquealingwhilethe
beltisrotating,bladesslippingwhilecuttinggrass,
andfrayededges,burnmarks,andcracksonthebelt.
Replacethemowerbeltifanyoftheseconditionsare
evident.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,disengage
theblade-controlswitch,andmovethe
motion-controlleversoutwardtothePARK
position.
2.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,andwait
forallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
3.Settheheightofcutatthelowestcuttingposition
(38mm(1-1/2inches).
4.Loosenthescrewandpushinthetabonthe
covertoremovethepulleycovers(Figure1).

Summary

Replacing the Mower Belt

Prepare Machine for Belt Replacement

Park the machine on a level surface and disengage the blade-control switch.

Shut Down Engine and Wait

Shut off the engine, remove the key, and wait for all moving parts to stop.

Adjust Mower Deck Height

Set the height of cut to the lowest cutting position (38 mm).

Remove Pulley Covers

Loosen the screw and push on the tab to remove the pulley covers.

Spring Tension Safety Warning

Warning: The spring is under tension when installed and can cause personal injury.

Install New Mower Belt

Route New Belt Around Pulleys

Route the new belt around the engine pulley and mower pulleys.

Install Idler Spring and Tension Belt

Use a spring-removal tool to install the idler spring and tension the belt.

Reinstall Pulley Covers

Install the pulley covers and secure them with the screws.
