Why Toro Riding mower engine will not start?
- JJessica ReidAug 19, 2025
If your Toro Riding mower engine won't start, starts hard, or fails to keep running, check these: * Ensure the fuel tank is full. * Verify the fuel valve is open. * Make sure the choke is on. * Clean or replace the air cleaner element if it's dirty. * Secure any loose or disconnected spark plug wires. * Install a new, correctly gapped spark plug(s) if the existing one(s) is pitted, fouled, or has an incorrect gap. * Replace the fuel filter if it's dirty. * If there is dirt, water, or stale fuel in the fuel system, contact an Authorized Service Dealer. * Drain the tank and replace the fuel with the proper type if the fuel is incorrect. * Add oil to the crankcase if the oil level is low.
