5.ShiftthetransmissionintoNEUTRAL.
6.Rotateandinspectthebelt(Figure64)forsigns
ofexcessivewearordamage.
Note:Replacethebeltifitisexcessivelyworn
ordamaged;refertoReplacingtheDriveBelt
(page52).

2.Loosenthepivotnutforthestartergenerator
(Figure64).
3.Alignaprybarbetweentheenginemountand
starter.
4.Applydownwardpressuretotheprybartorotate
thestarterdownintheslotuntilthebelttension
onlyallows6mm(1/4inch)beltdeectionwith
44N∙m(10ft-lb)offorce(Figure64).
5.Tightenthepivotnuthandtight,andremovethe
prybar(Figure64).
6.Torquethepivotnutto88to115N∙m(65to85
ft-lb).
7.Lowerthecargobed.
